Yeah I'm not excited about the upper 80s next week. Its been an amazing few weeks

But no severe weather in sight in mid May??? May be even crazier

Some decent corn where the rain was heavy last week but the rest is looking like this over eastern SC and NC. Photo taken today in Marion County SC.

This afternoon was the rainiest and most thunderstormy in quite a long time in this area! Lots of street flooding. The rush hour traffic was a big mess!

Rah/NWS Barking about the Big Wet inbound Sun night-Wed: One thing is for sure/ The cool down will continue into the 2cnd week of May. We are only about 43 days away before the days start getting shorter. The art of Psychology!

Man I really need the rain. Got around .1" last night but still haven't got anything substantial in some time. If they ever bring a MLB team to the RDU area, the stadium needs to be built near me.

If this happens, it will break the drought for sure. Hopefully it won't be like summertime systems though, where a few places get 6-10 while others get .50. That said, someone will get that much, if not more, if the banding lines up right. Upslope regions from north of Gainesville GA up to around Mount Airy NC stand to get 5+ easily, I think regardless.

It waited til later vs yesterday, but it was really coming down a few minutes ago! I’m on garage watch:)

Not a drought buster as far behind as we are but at least gets us a growing season. ILM is talking another soaking stratiform event Saturday night into Sunday and more convectively active Monday with widespread tropical downpours.

Without exaggeration, the area-wide storms were saw early this AM in eastern SC/NC was the first real soaking rain since August 2024.

The Euro, CMC, and EPS all see enhancement east of the Apps. GFS and GEFS do not.

Earthquake. Felt all the way down into Atlanta.

On 4/29/03 I was startled from a deep sleep from a lot of shaking and loud wall pops. The shaking was so strong that I 1st thought someone broke in and was trying to knock me out of my bed. Once awake I figured out it must be a quake. Put WSB AM on right after it ended and it was already all they were discussing. 1st & only quake I ever noticed.

Meanwhile, it’s loud here right now from a 3rd day in a row of thunderstorms!

Driving back from PCB to SC today. Might as well be late March from Atlanta->NE, stuck in the upper 50s and low 60s and showery.

Wrong thread I know. Didn't want this to get lost

Has anyone driven I40 West from NC into TN since Helene? If so, any major backups?

Google maps wants me to go that route. Just not sure.

Leaving Thu to rural ST Louis area

Thanks in advance
