I was traveling and I stopped at a travel center to get gas and they had a Arby's inside and I got the brisket combo and it was $14. I've never paid that for a combo, surely it's not all inflation and maybe because I was in a travel center. I didn't even get a large.

I've not been eating southern pork BBQ recently I've been on a Villa Verde dos Dominican pork kick recently
I go for that too ! Carribean pork mojo (rice, beans, pork, in a savory pork au jus) one of my favorites at two Puerto Rican resturaunts in town.

My local talk radio station will talk about food & resturarants from time to time. They mentioned Arby's today and the fact it takes a $20 bill to eat there now. They all have gotten expensive. Some of the BBQ and meat and two places in B'ham are too expensive and do not give you large enough portions. Five Guys (a fast food hamburger joint) ..$20 + for a hamburger combo and they ask for tips on top of this. Crazy!!

Yeah I remember those 5 for $5 days back in the day, 90's and early 2000's was the best. They had so much roast beef on them I would take it off and make me five more sandwiches with the extra roast beef. Now 5 for $30 if your lucky and they look like the jr roast beef. I mentioned the 5 for $5 to a young girl working at the drive thru recently and she looked at me like I was crazy and said we have never had 5 for $5 roast beef ever at Arby's. Good stuff.

Niki’s West gave us a lot of food a few months ago at a real decent price.

I'm more shocked that people still eat at Arby's...
my local Arby's parking lot is always empty every time I drive by it and its in a high traffic area.. Chick-fil-a's parking lot is always full and many times with two lanes of cars wrapped around it in the drive through with cars outside in the turn lanes waiting to get in. When busy, they will have 4-6 people outside in the drive through with hand held devices keeping everything moving.

Niki's West is good. I'm a big eater for lunch. Their potions are not the best but they run you through the line like cattle and you get in & out quick. Wife and I would meet at Nicki's East a lot for lunch but I wasn't impressed with them either but it was a good lunch. Nicki's East closed down and it was located in the downtown area in a busy area. Not sure what drove their business away. It had been there for years. Smoke House Restaurant down the street from Nicki's West is my favorite. Portions and price a little better than Nicki's but very good food (meat & vege's). We made a special trip one time to eat at Nicki's West for Breakfast one Saturday morning expecting it to measure up to their lunch and was not impressed with it at all. It was disappointing.

Y’all remember the damn burger place that had 59 cent hamburgers all the time in the early 90s?? They had one on Franklin in Gastonia, I can’t remember for the life of me!?

Mmm had Parker’s in Wilson tonight. Can never go wrong with them. Plus they lace their sweet tea with crack cocaine so you drink a gallon .
Got a new sweet tea coming your way in the grocery stores if you have not already seen it. Milo's sweet tea. They do the crack thing also. Its pretty dang good. Heard on the news they were opening a new processing/brewing plant in one of the Carolina's. Do not remember if it was NC or SC but they are entering the East Coast market.

I’ve seen them for as long as I can remember. I like them, haven’t had them much though.

Business must be good so they are going to make it locally. Milo's is a hamburger fast food place that started in B'ham. Originally they only served a burger with a signature dark sauce (Milo's Sauce) , raw onions, and pickles on their hamburgers which is what set them apart from other resturants. They only recently started offering traditional burgers & condiments on their menu. The second owners sold off the resturant part but kept the tea ( and I think the sauce) operations & the Milo's trade name. Milo's Hamburgers. coming soon to the Carolina's!
