Raleigh ain't the same city where Barney Fife stayed at the Y on the Andy Griffith Show anymore. The cost of living has skyrocketed in recent years due to the growth and influx of newcomers with big wallets. It's hard to believe that I used to know people who made their own inebriating beverages and now these local distilleries that have popped up everywhere like weeds on a lawn are charging that much for liquor.
It’s artisan sustainable eco friendly carbon neutral composted recycled reused indigenous acknowledging activist social justice liquor bro. That’s why it costs so much.

WTF, I'll use ATL O moving forward, the ocean was pretty clearly implied, appreciate the taco combo meal before mods took it off the menu.

Going farther east every run. This thing is going to end up leaving the southeast north of FLA dry and it'll be dry for a long time I'm afraid. 2001 is the analog. Maybe some rain by Thanksgiving if we are lucky. This storm goes at least 150 miles off sure of NC and SC if not even farther out.

I retired from the state a few months back, but here is something my group created and is still keeping updated. Click on the Tropical tab. This is an active web map that has links to hurricane relevant map services.

And you'll notice there are other cool tabs (like winter).

Cool stuff! Thanks for sharing, also congrats on your retirement! If all goes well I'll be retiring from the State in April 2024!

That's not long. It's crazy how time flies.... Make sure you have 30 days of vacation to sell back; and it you still any cashable bonus, sell that as well. The payout amount gets added to your last year's salary (retirement based off 4 highest salaried years).

Ha ha ... maybe. I've actually thought about making some. I still have an Esri account and could make some. It's actually pretty easy. Just need to know what map services you want to add.

Oh yeah I'm aware lol. I'll use what I have to, sell what I can but for me it's all about the sick leave that can be used towards credible service (almost 2 years) plus I'll get LEOR supplement which I'll be able to receive for nearly 10 years, that's a huge plus.

genuinely baffled on how the 12z models will run. shift east? shift west? i don't know. i have absolutely no read. i spent 20 minutes trying to find the synoptic difference on why the icon is doing what it's doing and didn't see it. steering based on vibes. good luck.
#GermanEngineering.

WOW.....exactly what I have been saying for days. This thing is going to miss every possible feature to get it to move east......it may sit in the gulf for days just meandering around.
Yep and it’s going to sit for those days and then intensify into a mega Mountain Dew bama roll tide talladega 500 tornado Dale Earnhardt pile up Nick sabans butt cheeks monster hurricane and slam Alabama . Roll Tide!

Did you also retire from the Royal Colony of North Carolina when we seceded and became part of the newly formed US? You also retired from the Confederate State of NC , and now the state of NC under Joe Biden! You have seen it all.

Your post are getting ridiculous too

I'm not old enough to remember this but a monster hurricane actually helped the Americans win the American Revolution. The Great Hurricane of 1780 formed in October of that year and smashed Puerto Rico, the Lesser Antilles, Jamaica and Bermuda with winds estimated to be around 200 MPH by some accounts. The bark was stripped from the trees in Jamaica according to an account written by the royal governor of that island during the storm. It wrecked the ports in those islands and sunk several British warships that were at sea during the storm. A French fleet that was at sea suffered much less damage only losing one frigate. It was one of the reasons that the British navy didn't have additional ships needed to stay in port in New York and send a stronger fleet to Yorktown in time to rescue Cornwallis.

Ahh! The great storm! Metwannabe was undergoing basic leo and SD was writing script for a future website. Good times indeed!

brick i love you but i couldn't disagree more man. i think that there's an inflated feeling of uncertainty from both the variety of products, the reliance on ensembles and more 18z and 6z runs which increase the serialization of tracking these things. when i was in high school tracking irene i did not have tropical tidbits or any great resources like that; outside of official forecasts i had the gfs via the university of wyoming website, i had jeff masters wunderblog comment section and i had wxrisk on facebook, that was my diet. if i were in that position now i would have a vastly superior diet of weather consumption. there likely were greater forecasting battles, they just werent visible to us. as far as forecast quality i think it gets better every year; i think the NHC has been absolutely stellar in this storm in particular, that track had barely budged and the intensity forecast has held firm.
You were in HS during Irene? ??
