Made my first 'real' YouTube video yesterday if for nothing else but to document mine and Dad’s fishing adventures. Don't know if this type of self promo is allowed, but I'm proud of it and it was a fun experience even though its a bit off topic for the site. I'd appreciate a like and subscribe, as well as any video editing tips! Mods, feel free to yank this down if not allowed.

I think he's trying to say he licks his thumb before throwing the dog bone in the rain.

Or maybe after licking his thumb he waters the plants with his dog bone?
I found a dog bone , in my tomato plant dirt, that must be making them finger licking good! Grew a cherry tomato called ‘sun gold’ has grape -sized orange/yellow fruits! Did very well in a container

If my weather family here can say a little prayer, one of my sisters has been missing for about 2 weeks and no where to be found. She live in Florida. She’s at rock bottom in her life, been in trouble a lot and she almost 40. My mom is raising her two boys. Hope she’s ok wherever she is. Thanks

Praying for you and your family that she will be found safe and sound. Praying ?

Will do. Keep us posted.

If you don't mind my asking, what part of Florida?

I don't know if it's just my perception, but I feel like by mid August the evening breeze just dies and we get into those Dog days of stagnant humid air and no breeze. That's when i'm done.
I prefer August over July. Typically nights start getting cooler. Days are much shorter. Sun angle lower.

Praying for your family and her safe return. I'm not sure what ages her boys are, but I know it must be difficult for them to go through this.

Any recs from this forum for a new weather app for my phone? I don't mind paying a bit if it's better quality (good radar views, useful UI, etc.)

Radarscope, Accuweather, TWC all come to mind, but curious what others use.

I’m really happy with the NOAA weather radar free app, for radar

Wanted to continue this hypothetical topic of regional topography influence on pop-up thunderstorms. The location in my area that gets frequent thunderstorm activity is an area around Jordan Lake to Apex to Moncure. The formation of Jordan Lake came to pass in an area that had frequent historic flooding (which could imply frequent rain as well as being a low-lying area). Some merit, I suppose, due to the fact that the region still gets a lot of rain in contrast to my area just 10 miles NW of it. Storms coming from the WS/GSO region often die around the Siler City/Liberty area and all we are left with is debri clouds/wind. Often times, you will see a resurgence/or new development just to my east right before Jordan Lake/Apex/Moncure.

I've also often seen storms in the Cary/Morrisville area that somehow miss northern Harnett/southern Wake. Hard to say if topography/soil types are a result, but seem like a dominant theory in the summertime popup storms. This phenomenon is less stealthy in winter when general widespread rain covers a large portion.

When we get tropical storm influences of low pressures that pivot storms from the south to the north, my area does very well. W/NW, seems rare to score, at least for my locale.

There needs to be a TV show about meteorologists who forecast extreme weather. Kind of like a murder mystery, but rather than the mystery being a murder, the mystery can be forecasting a blizzard, or a hurricane.

Yeah it makes a big difference as far as in my line of work about how water runs off of clay soil compared to more sandy. I guess it's possible that if a storm is able to intensify in a certain area based on surface conditions and moisture availability, that there would be an adjustment period that occurs as they move over different conditions(soil). They certainly blow back up east of 95. It may give some credence to the direction the storms are moving theory because I also tend to do better with storms moving North East or North. The city's impervious also probably messes with the Dynamics of the storms as well.

Methinks I'll have to turn up the ceiling fan this evening. Most of ya would collapse from these indoor temps...lol! ?
