Oh for sure. I wasn't asking, I was stating that we are going to act like it didn't happen
Gotta like the seeder feeder action on the 3k soundings though. It would be cool if it worked out. I don't think a snow shower or flurry is impossible Saturday as the cold really crashes in aloft and the trough moves in

How can the 3k nam be so different from the 12k? I can sorta understand the convective bands in Bama, but from southern Ark, nw Miss, through west Tenn, that's ridiculous! (by the way I favor the 3k modernweenie)

Smaller mesoscale features are added like convective bands and all the smaller things that would help increase or decrease totals are added when you go from the 12km to 3km. It's probably not correct on spots of heaver snow bands which you probably won't know until right before it starts snowing where they set up.

Gonna sound stupid. But you may have your heavier snow totals near the I20 corridor or a bit north. Just a hunch.

Congrats to middle Tennessee, who has had a stellar winter.

As others have pointed out, some token flakes are totally possible on the back side for the northern locales of the board that aren't already seeing snow- it's a really sharp trough and generally you'll get some table scraps from instability or another mechansim.

12z GEFS. Wowzers. Lot further south then the OP

For reference, here are the most recent "official" March snowfalls of 1" or more for some cities that are in play with this system.

Birmingham = 2009
Atlanta = 2010
Chattanooga = 2010
Knoxville = 2013
Huntsville = 2015
Memphis = 2015
Nashville = 2017
Go ahead and mark up 2022 for this snow event that's coming in Huntsville and Birmingham, Claiming my snow in Birmingham already. Still think you'll probably see some of your heavier snow totals near i20.

My plan is to still go to Maggie valley tomorrow after work. Maybe enough moisture can get over the border to get the ground white. Maybe drive up to soco gap. My motel 3,020 ft soco gap is 4300ft

Something to think about for western NC especially west and north of Asheville. After 7-8am temps should be in mid to upper 20s so anything that falls should stick the question is how much moisture gets over the border. how much NW flow stuff sets up

12Z Euro has a good bit more snow than the 0Z had for northern parts of MS/AL/GA and southern TN: this would be a big deal, folks, for this part of the SE, especially in mid March:
