"Dead rats"

History of “Czech hedgehogs”, starting with WW2:

“Originally designed to sit along the Czechoslovakia-Germany border as part of a massive fortification effort conducted in the 1930s, the hedgehogs never ended up serving their original purpose when the region was annexed by Germany in 1938.”

I didn’t know what those infamous Omaha beach metal barriers were called until today.

You would think by all the social media images and news outlet images that number would be much lower, 90% is still a large quantity and can inflict immense pain

That is actually not good, as the initial estimates guessed roughly 5-8% of Russia's military forces in Ukraine had been rendered inoperable. This paints it higher at 10%.

Also, I think this analysis is simply looking at the head count and inanimate material (tanks, trucks, planes), without factoring in the logistics, fuel shortages, food shortages, lack of will to fight, etc.

This would mean about 110,000 are either injured or dead or POW. have not seen this number officially published.

Maybe but my understanding it's not 90% of the entire military only those units involved directly with Ukraine invasion

So I guess this isn't settled yet? The messaging isn't the best that's for sure

The intent it seems is to deliberately muddy the waters here I think....being vague and talking out of both sides of the mouth is done on purpose. They want to keep the Russians guessing and prevent them from being able to use it as a excuse to try and expand the conflict all while still getting aircraft to Ukraine.

US pegging the missile launch count is crazy, no doubt NRO launches over the past decade are playing a key role in finding the boosters and who knows what else they are not sharing with us.

At this point at the rate vlad is destroying cities he has no intentions of occupying does he? He isn't into nation building so I'm starting to think his main objective is Donbas and Odessa and he's hellbent on killing and destroying whatever he has to to make Zelensky cave.

Acting like children? Both sides? It sounds as if you think Ukraine owes Russia something?
I really don't care about both countries and have zero interests. I only care about the USA and my home country where my family is. But I have seen the same headline every day since the start and before the invasion. Neither side want to talk and put walls up. Similar to what is happening in the US with dem and rep.

Blurring the political line, take it elsewhere please or else Vegas and I will start posting more Ukrainian Memes for NATO teens.

Pure speculation on my part, but this US/Poland jet weirdness sounds like a classic miscommunication and passing the buck. Makes me wonder how close the two nations have coordinated up till now. Might need to work on that.

Also might help if Poland doesn't just go off and announce or leak stuff that we hadn't 100% agreed to yet.

If you invade my homeland the only thing we need to discuss is you getting the @#$& out! Am I missing something? Remember that Ukraine didnt send an invitation to be killed and have there country leveled. They dont owe you anything either

Putin is toast, his weeks or even days are numbered....he is destroying Russia's economy, setting Russia back decades diplomatically, killing thousands of his soldiers, and murdering thousands of innocent people in Ukraine with deliberate attacks on non military targets including hospitals. I mean what does he hope to get out of all this at this point.....

At this point the world just needs to say enough.....at some point Poland and Romania are going to jump in.....this can not continue....

I’m kinda wondering if it’s the opposite. May be on the fringe but this is the information warfare age and US/NATO are adapting, add in some light chatter over a No Fly with capabilities in place to do so.

The Mig mishap 3.0 was largely timed with news of two Patriot batteries deploying to eastern Poland from Germany and news of the UK sending a very elite mobile surface to air pod.

At this point we are concerned about keeping supply lines open, it’s hard to cross the boarder in a plane unless it’s military. Clear telegraph from the US to Russia IMO, same way they did with the nuclear drill and “alert” status.

Agree with the sentiment ... but nuances of 1939 keeps coming to mind for some reason ...

Poland is not going to allow Russia to get into western Ukraine.....neither is NATO, they are obviously setting up the ability to intercept ballistic and cruise missiles, and to enforce a possible no fly zone over the western part of Ukraine. At some point we need to test Putin, declaring a part of Ukraine airspace in western Ukraine a no fly zone would be a good move.

Moving on, I still doubt a no fly over western Ukraine, but if Putin continues on his civilian warpath for another week or two, with little disregard, that could change. On the global stage, I don’t think the US and NATO would have another choice. Patriots in the vicinity would be preferable for a no fly as they talk to our aircraft. Mesh of systems.

I hope you're right, and admittedly just thinking out loud. Hopefully the Mig mishap is the exception and the other news is a sign of tight coordination.

Why is 12 billion dollars going to Ukraine, but not our southern border. What will you tell your children when they have to eat Bugs because of all of this? "It's okay children, it was worth it defending Ukraine". No, country comes first. Don't come crying on here or being surprised when everything starts collapsing.
This isn't about putting one country before another. I put my country first for 20+ years in service. I have plenty of issues with how this country is run but this is a thread about war in Ukraine. That's the focus

Thanks for your service, but I think it's a slap in the face for those who came here legally that so much emphasis is put on Ukraine's sovereignty, when the southern border is just a free for all. 12 Billion would have funded the wall. Take care of home first before others.
Yeah I get it dude but were just talking about 2 countries at war NOT POLITICS.

Couple Arleigh Burke destroyer squadrons confirmed and attack subs likely in the vicinity.

“The supercarrier can accommodate approximately 90 aircraft and has a flight deck 4.5 acres (1.8 ha) in size, using four elevators that are 3,880 sq ft (360 m2) each to move planes between the flight deck and the hangar bay. With a combat load, HST displaces almost 97,000 tons and can accommodate 6,250 crewmembers”

Sinking one is WW3, no doubt about it, perennial US projection of power in the early 21st century.

It's most likely a misinformation campaign. You don't have whimsical public back and forths on extremely important issues like this and nobody is on the same page. It's purposeful. They know exactly what they're doing.
