We all would be wise to ask ourselves the what if question. With a power grid thats aged, dwindling resources, geo political unpredictability, cyber warfare. As a society we are as vulnerable as we ever could have possibly imagined just a decade or 2 ago. So what if the grid shuts down a few days, weeks, months? Chaos would ensue no doubt. Maybe you would just like to become solely independent from the grid without a crisis creating it.
Whatever the flavor, the worst plan is no plan.
Remember Shelter, Water,Food,Security are the 4 biggies. If a crisis hits, do you grab your emergency supplies run for the hills, remote isolation. Or do you make do right where your at?
For me and my squad its the water resource. Other 3 we have covered short/long term. Head to family farm no doubt. Water we have access to a low runing stream. But its got to be harvested, filtered without any power.
Fire Away.
