It may be a figment of my imagination, but I swear I saw somewhere today that Putin is going to make an announcement on the 20th.

My guess if so, is it'll be them taking action in places like Donbas.

Probably each day something like this;

I really did not think Putin was dumb enough to push it this far, I still cant see him going into Ukraine outside of the separatist regions, there just is no upside to it, he cant take it all and hold it without massive losses and in the end the world is not going to let him keep Ukraine. Still it sure looks like he is going to at least go in Donbas and maybe even a push towards Kiev.

I still dont think there will be an invasion. But if there is i think the ukrainian military will dissolve rather fast.
 
Just curious, with Russia so largely involved and busy in eastern Ukraine, why doesn’t another country or good guy pick on Russia say at the Alaska border or elsewhere over water.

Also, there really ain't much in eastern/central Russia to fight over, which is why it's rarely been threatened by anyone. It'd be like harassing Canada starting in the NW territories.

I just don’t understand why if he was gonna do it, why has he waited this long. It’s just gonna get more of his soldiers killed as the west sneaks in weapons to the Ukraine military.

Mind games, Putin is really smart and is just testing the waters like he and NK always does. If he wanted a true war it would have already happened.

People said the world would not let Russia annex Crimea eight years ago, and it happened. I wouldn’t be too sure. What can the world really do to stop it besides crippling sanctions? But sanctions have rarely stopped countries from aggression in the past, and much of Europe can’t really afford to sanction Russia too severely, lest they lose a critical source of oil/natural gas.

I don’t suspect Russia will invade all of Ukraine, but an occupation east of the Dnieper seems plausible to me.

Ukraine seems to have a decent army, but their Air Force is completely subpar and will be a huge issue for them. It’s hard to operate an army and shuffle troops around when Russia has full control of the skies and is raining hell down upon them. Things would be different if NATO intervened as Russia, despite having a very good Air Force, would likely still get clowned by the USAF, but that isn’t going to happen at this point. At least Ukraine will be on the defensive which will help to some degree.
 
Not 100% sure this is a believable source, but there has been some chatter about Russian backed separatists engaging a Ukrainian drone. I think this is one of the drones they acquired from Turkey.




Of course, these drones will be useless against Russia.
