Wintry Grading the 2020-21 meteorological winter

I will give it a B. My reasoning is because we had great teleconnections early on but the cold was overseas. This winter could have been unreal cold with a few tweaks and shifts. Three winter storms within a week isnt bad for my area. Coldest was -2 below zero.

Winter was amazing out your way, if I saw 3 storms in a week and sub zero temps here it would be an A+ easy

A solid B here with no longlasting torch and numerous pleasantly cool to cold evenings with low dewpoints. Much better than prior two winters and much better than expectations, especially Feb! The reward is that hardly any flowers have bloomed, most trees still have their midwinter look, my grass is still mainly dormant, and (best of all) I have yet to see any outside bugs vs last 2 years of early Feb for all of this.

I'd take this every winter and am already looking forward to the next one!

Overall, a D+.

Positives: snow on Christmas, no prolonged torches until end of Feb, always something to track, plenty of chances to score
Negatives: cold rain, cool rain, all kinds of rain. just too many fails, so many awesome setups that somehow went to poop. less than an inch season total.

.

One week doesn't make a winter though. Need it to be consistently cold and snowy.

Nah one storm down here makes or breaks a winter tbh, and sub-zero temps have only happened a couple times in the past century & change. Consistency should be a consideration but extremes are arguably way more important imo. A winter w/ one 1-2 foot snowstorm and sub-zero temps for a couple days is gonna be more impactful & memorable than one like this year that was consistently seasonable w/ only a few nickel/dime events.

Haha if this doesn't sum up winter in the south I don't know what does. 12 days of snow to almost get to an inch. :D

I'll give this Winter an A. We had close to a foot of snow in two storms in a two day window, A record of 10 days straight below freezing, and temperatures below 0° in parts of the Memphis metro area. All this after a nasty Ice storm on Feb 11, 2021.
