Living Wage

Yeah 50k in rural Kansas can get you a LOT vs 50k in midtown Manhattan...

One couldn’t buy a house on the west coast with 125k salary. I would say in most southern inner metro areas you would want a minimum household income of 125k+ just to be able to afford a decent house. In the southern rural areas you can live fairly comfortably on a household income of 75k+. You can’t buy a house in a decent area within close proximity to Atlanta for less than 500k, and even that would be hard to find. Atlanta is an affordable market too.

I answered this for as an Individual's income, not a joint income. Joint income w/ 1 kid, you should be good around 100K. You won't have the nicest house, or fancy vehicles, but you'll live a comfortable modest life.
100k? Damn how did my family make it on less than 50k , less than 40 at one point with 3 kids . Y’all tweaking , 60-80k is fine .

Inflation.
Yeah but I’m 20 so we aren’t talking about 30 years ago ! My family does fine on around 60k these days . It doesn’t even feel that tight , tbf of course I work as well and take care of whatever expenses ( school included ) related to me that I can . Been doing that since high school. 50k is different though , that was tight check to check stuff .
