Pattern Hotober

Getting closer to fall like weather. We're opening windows and its getting cool enough at night for the house temp to drop even further from 77 (which is what dad usually places the A/C on). Saturday might get pretty warm but the signs are here that it's close.

Now can we get some rain that isn't a quick burst?

Maybe we have different definitions of fall weather but i see nothing but very warm weather (80s) in your forecast the next week. Seems very summerish.

What is wrong here? 77 degrees inside? Is he mad?

My trees lost half their leaves without a hint of fall colors.

I'm seeing many signs of tree stress. Pines are dropping needles now and I'm seeing increasing numbers with large sections of brown canopy. Poplar's have been shedding leaves since August. My property looks like November 10th not October 10th! I've managed to keep my small patch of centipede grass alive and thriving, but the well pump is driving my electric bill through the roof. I've got a deep well with no signs of trouble and the creek on the property is showing good flow of water, though. The lake that feeds it is down about 8" to 12". It must be spring fed. Those bodies of water that aren't spring fed are getting real low. I would expect to see dead fish in some soon. The stress appears to have killed some trees on my ride home from work. They were already damaged by recent construction and the 2016 drought, though.

63.1F at noon, nice cloud deck holding in place.

Well if what I'm looking at ends up being true there will be days beyond Monday that possibly get dropped.

You get used to it. Maybe I'm crazy now too but I've found that 75 probably works for me too which is not far off, very low A/C temps are noticeably ridiculous to me, and I actually woke up cold this morning. Most of it was my body wasn't moving and another reason though.

I did notice other HVAC's kicking on late at night while it was quiet, so in this area, my dad is the only one that's nutty.

He doesn't set the heat high either but for winter I do different things and wear sweatshirts so it's unnoticeable.

So the 12z GFS is asking if we are interested in taking marginally increased rain chances at the cost of 8-10° AN temps. What say you? Do we take that deal?

Im watching some webcams in ND and i got to thinking. I dont want snow in October or November for that matter. I want a proper fall.

Hoping we bust low today. NWS forecast high 78, still 70 and we've got more clouds than earlier

For that cold front around next Thursday, CMC showing some truly cold temps. It is the CMC, so.

What does the white area near Nashville mean ?
Probably means normal. Northern middle Tennessee got upwards of 4-5 inches of rain last weekend. We were actually well above average in rainfall until the month and a half dry spell started in late August. We dipped a little below normal and last weekend got us back up to normal.

Edit: I guess it means no data but up here where I am should be close to normal.

Yes. Temps in the upper 70s-low 80s with rain offers no downside at this point. Different story D-M, maybe.

this front is no joke here... I'm currently at 89 and tomorrow could struggle to 55 most of the day with strong north winds

Texas can have some wild swings. I remember going to a wedding in Austin and the day I landed it was 90. The next day it stayed in the 40s with rain. Definitely a blue norther!

yeah, first or second year I was here right before Christmas we were near 80 at 3pm and 4 or 5 hours later it was 30 degrees lol

At least I won't be sweating at my kids football games on Saturday now. Hotober is now official October again.
