Downsloping flow off the mountains will help elevate temps even more tommorow in NC/SC, means a increase fire risk and that flow suppresses convection and means breezy weather
Yep, and this up-coming cool-down will really feel crisp.I've gotten so used to the 95+ degree days this summer, that these last couple 98 degree days really are not that bad. I've been going for walks, and I am quiet accustomed to the heat now. I can't wait for it to end, but its sad that 95+ has become so normal that it feels fine now lol

My AC and my power bill could both use a break. Haven't gotten to use the attic fan since last Spring. I always look forward to turning it on and bringing in that cool fresh air.Yep, glad I’m not alone, been outside a lot this past summer and it’s been like this since May, it’s doesn’t even feel bad nomore, to the point where I don’t care for a cool down or for this to continue, lol

Tied all time high for October! @ 97, may have crept up a degree to beat it!?Utility contractor here. On behalf of everyone who works outside for a living, I would like publicly to denounce the “it’s not that hot” ‘ers
It’s hot
Do you prefer working outside when its 90+ or when temps are below 20 ? I can't imagine either would be pleasant.Utility contractor here. On behalf of everyone who works outside for a living, I would like publicly to denounce the “it’s not that hot” ‘ers

90+ no questions. Our water tank freezes up if we’re pumping in the mid 20’sDo you prefer working outside when its 90+ or when temps are below 20 ? I can't imagine either would be pleasant.

A lot of it is mental. You are ok with the heat now because you know the heat won't last much longer. If you knew that the heat were never going to end, you would have a different mindset. Plus, September and October heat just doesn't feel as bad as summer heat. Shorter days, lower sun angle, etc.Yep, glad I’m not alone, been outside a lot this past summer and it’s been like this since May, it’s doesn’t even feel bad nomore, to the point where I don’t care for a cool down or for this to continue, lol

Can’t help but marvel at the resiliency of the ridge throughout the 18z run

RDU also hit 96 today but that's not the all time record; it's 98. But we're not safe, tomorrow may tie or beat that.KATL did it: 96 today makes it a new alltime high record for October, beating old record of 95. And there are still two more similar days to go that may allow a 97 or even a 98?!?!
Way too early for "oh no" if we're talking cool; not too early for a pop-up thunder cane (unfortunately) ...Yeah at least temperature wise the GFS is pretty much fine past Friday to me. It'd be asking for a bit much to get very cool and stay it. Just throw these 95+'s and hopefully 90+'s too in the trash, please.
I only see occasional ridging after we get next week's front. That's kinda what crankywxguy was alluding to in his blog post. He said that once the pattern changed, any differences would be ebbs and flows and not a true "oh no".
It was 70 here this morning, DP 69 sorry nothing "dry heat" about that.... I had sweat pouring off of me after my run as if it was the middle of July. The good thing is this has been a dry heat; we've been getting into the 60s at night. But this is still bull^%$# for October.
