Misc 2019 Banter & Friendly Conservation

We havent even finished spring yet. Lets enjoy each season as they come.

Besides, there’s no reason to think next winter won’t be another dud from most members’ perspectives (meaning no big winter storm) (Phil and I are two that don’t count since we’re climate based realists who realize the chances are always small...I always enjoy the lack of heat and humidity then) despite the inevitable optimism that gets going in autumn. So, just enjoy the wx as it is the only wx you’ve got! Or stay inside as much as possible if you must. Most importantly, try to enjoy life as it is the only life you’ve got. Wx is not something that should determine overall happiness. Things like good health should determine that.

Who's ready for this upcoming winter season
Ooooo... oooooo.... me, me, me. I'm kind of already over heat, humidity, snakes, bugs, etc (It's gonna be a long 5-6 months). Already killed one of these guys in my house, these things give me nightmares...

I guess there's been so many severe weather threats that people just gave up creating new storm threads. Looks like another active severe weather week.

Will keep it in the banter, but I think a new tornado alley is developing east of the Appalachian Mountains over the past 5-10 years. Wilkes was hit by a strong EF2 in October 2 years ago, Yadkin elementary was hit years prior, this spring south-west VA was hit by EF3, Guilford strong EF2 and many others EF2+.

I follow all severe threats after the EF2 hit me. Tornadoes often impact very few people but each spring there is someone new. Public awareness sucks and most people don’t realize that EF3 in south-west Virginia this spring could have been them...given close proximity. I think Elkin NC and Statesville NC is overdue over the next 3 years.

Not going back to dig up the posts, but about 2 years ago we were in high fire danger SE wide, smoke and fumes scouring the sky, and everyone was begging for rain ... It's weather ... :eek:

~~~~~~~
That's when FS and I got the fire weather section set up in Wiki, btw ...
Actually it's been dry in and near my region. So, I'm in irrigation mode til further notice.
I can testify to this..... it's why it's taking me over a month to build my deck ugh
That is a crazy stat. I wish it would take a break on the weekends for a while. Then again, I hate having to get out in the rain to go to and from work. If it's on the weekend, at least I can stay inside and catch up on my TV shows. The perfect scenario would be if it rained once a week and only at night between 11 pm and 5 am when most folks are asleep. You think we can make that happen?
Well, most of them have been in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas this month.
Without thunder and lightning to keep us awake all night.
This is exactly how I looked and felt after a long, exhausting day of work today. I didn't want to be touched, just left the f- alone. lol
This would be a good look if it was in January, lol
This pattern is actually somewhat similar to the pattern that gave Atlanta the snowjam, positively tilted trough diving far south into tx that would allow for overrunning, except that one dived a little farther south, anyways now all this would do is cool temps in the upper 70s-lower 80s, welcome to late spring/summer ?
The friday streak ends this week saturday and sunday though..
It's the Saturday and Sunday combos that are killing me... seriously by the time I get home from work, get settled, change, get my tools out to start working on my deck I have like an hour of daylight, then with rainy weekends my place is a mess! Lol and grass is like time, it waits for no one.
Besides I'm getting too old to work til sun down everyday then get up before 5 too.... geez I'm a grumpy complaining tired 'ol man
Good news as we head into another snowless winter!!?View attachment 19460
Not good. But there's still enough time for pro-old GFS The Donald to take action like he did the last time. So, if you hear about a surprise govt. shutdown in the coming weeks, you'll know the reason. If he were to be reelected, the old GFS could be safe all the way til at least Jan of 2025 if he keeps taking executive action! By then, NOAA would hopefully give up on the FV3. For that reason, I expect the GFS to become one of the biggest election related issues.
Dry with highs 80-100 through 10/15 then less dry with highs from 45-60 with occasional highs in the upper 30s from 10/15 to 3/15
So basically about typical temp-wise.
