They have been pretty quick since the snow jam as have many cities in Alabama. Nothing worse that waiting to long and have kids trapped at school. They would rather bust on the side of caution.

In all honesty, you can't blame them (and other districts) for closing. Snow jam 2014 caught everyone by surprise. When people realized that the snow, which started as flurries and quickly came down fast and accumulated, they started jamming the roads to get to their children. The schools decided to get the children home early and with the roads being a mess fast, it was done deal. In hindsight, probably should have left the children at school where they at least had food and heat. So, I guess I'm saying here in Atlanta and probably elsewhere, they are damned if they do, and damned if they don't. I would rather close out of precaution and nothing happens than to have a repeat of 2014. I remember being less than a mile from home and it took 45 minutes to get home because the roads were that bad. My mom and I was coming back from the store (she was dropping me off) and she couldn't get home and had to stay with me and my grandma for 2 days. My neighbors said it took them hours to get back home from being less than a mile away.

Listen. You are a day late coming into this discussion. I swear the mods on this board have some egos. How dare anyone say anything to a mod in a public forum especially after being treated like an ass by a mod in a public forum. I treat everyone with respect unless I see someone treating others or myself with it respect. Anyway, this is over. Move on.

Two days late coming to the discussion, but lol you called Storm out for cussing and then you started cussing. Anyway, I disagree that the mods here have big egos. This place is incredibly tolerant and tries to strike a balance between information sharing and general dialogue while maintaining a semblance of order to the forum (i.e. not complaining in the storm threads, because we have a thread for complaining). Most people seem cool with it. That doesn't mean that a mod or admin is never guilty of anything. And in fact, most of the mods here have had posts moved or deleted. Most people seem to be ok with how things are run. We don't encourage fighting in the open forum between posters of any level. If there is an issue, then PM one of us; we'll be glad to help. That's the stance. And it's proper in a public arena such as this.

Have to disagree, haven't seen the mods treating anyone like an "ass" or having egos.

Thanks. We try to be fair and reasonable. We also have a private thread so we are always keeping each other informed and we make many decisions by consensus, trying to do what's best for the board and the members at large.

Thanks for the kind words. We're not perfect, and we certainly get as frustrated with the weather as anyone. But we all agree internally that this should be an enjoyable place to come together and discuss weather, while recognizing that there has to be some level of order to the site and also that it incumbent upon us all to maintain respect for each other, as it is with any community. But nobody's perfect, and we all have our moments.

Hey, when it comes to snow, it’s every man/women for theirselves! I’m a little salty this isn’t my storm, but I really hope AL/GA get the ground white, because as rare as it is here, it’s even more rare for them!

I think I heard a sonic boom earlier, it was the NAM crashing and burning and everybody hugging the GFS that sucked yesterday!?
