Yes, I was one of those that thought the warm spell would bring up our average. I was wrong and it did not. I'm still solidly below average this month and will most definitely finish about 4 to 5 degrees below normal.

What will Feb temps look like, I wonder?
Sad that we are going to be welll below normal with much much above normal in Jan and still can't snow.

We realistically, just missed by about 500 miles to our west here in January. That could have been our storm that broke the snow drought here. It was close. It's not unusual at all to go below normal in temps and not snow. We can go above normal in temps AND score a significant snow, too. Snow in the deep south is just rare no matter what conditions persist.

I understand.
My childhood & even 20's - 40's self remembers differently but apparently I was born during or shortly after a mini ice age for the Western Carolinas & NE Ga region.
One thing is certain it has been very bad the past 5-9 years this area.

Temps in Jan. With the blowtorch for first half of Feb it’s another AN winter.

Seeing that river of cold January just faceplant in TN before it gets to the carolinas, shame. Hopefully we can get one week in February that will come east and give us a storm. I don't need March, just one solid cold and stormy week in February, dang it. Lol.

I would say that pretty much all and if not more of that 3.2 above average is from the 24-28th. Without that, RDU probably ends up slightly below average for the month.

Well I got 1/3 right. I nailed the temp departure for KATL. I was predicting -0.5 BN I was 1 inch too low on the precip. I would have been right on the mark if I stuck with my initial prediction of 6.4 inches.??‍♂️?
