Misc This Means WAR

I'll admit, the 53 isn't really that hot of a take compared to some predictions. But it would have been just 6 months ago.
Yeah, I'd have been shocked 6 months ago the Senate would be 53 D - 47 R, but at this point it seems pretty "expected". A hot take would be Dems getting 55 or 56 seats...which isn't impossible.

(Although probably less likely now that Moody has won.)

Paxton is such a dumpster fire candidate, it's crazy. Cornyn would've carried the state, even in this very blue national environment. Trump continues to take the party down with him with all these ridiculous endorsements he's made over the years.

Looks like Donalds is going to hang on in FL GOV to me, but the fact that race (along with the Senate race) was so close is indications that this is going to be a very big blue wave. Going to be 2010-esque here, or more.

People move from California to Texas, from NY to NC/SC/Ga/Fl and they all do it because they hate the cost of living in their blue states, they don't like the environment their laws/legislation has created; yet they move there and keep voting blue. Then you see the market start to drop bc Dems gonna be in a power again and yet people think Dems have the answers. People never learn. Oh well this too shall pass

Pretty sure I've seen, with FL at least, that the transplants actually vote redder than the native born residents. That may not be true for other states as FL is somewhat special, though, but that is thought to what has driven it from a swing state to a red state in recent years.

Lol that's not the case.

Per Predict-It for the Senate, Dems ending up with 55+ seats is now heavily favored with a 2/3 chance of 55+ seats!

South Carolina is looking very competitive here, could even be tilting towards Andrews. Could be a lesson not to nominate candidates solely based on nepotism? Another Trump endorsement disaster.

NY Times needle has SC as "Likely D". I know Graham was maybe the worst candidate of this cycle (Paxton may be a slimeball, but at least he's held office before), but I really didn't take this race seriously until now. 👀 👀 👀

I've been trying to tell people this was coming for weeks

They didn't want to listen. I got accused of being a liberal haha. I stopped replying because they all wanted to argue
When you have a approval rating this low, you expect this to occur. This is the lowest approval rating in DECADES.

I know so many other Republicans who were just over it too. Not what they voted for. My friend the other day was like he voted straight Democrat

He should have worried about other things that renaming a lake

Hopefully they somehow overplay their hand, and the Republicans can find moderate candidates in 2028. If this goes like I'm thinking it will in 2028 we are in trouble.

Unfortunately, Dems will probably take this beatdown to believe it's an endorsement of DSA-type policies (as opposed to a repudiation of the Trump Administration), and then when the Dems sweep the government in 2028, they'll go all-in with that, then they'll be a backlash to that and the Dems will get thrashed in the 2030 midterms, and then we repeat the cycle over and over...

But hopefully not. That seems to be the cycle of the last couple decades, though, with increasing radicalization.

Yeah, the Nixon performance in Florida probably makes AOC the frontrunner by a large margin in 2028 now and honestly, with no major change, it's likely President AOC next with it being the left wing populists' turn now.

And then the Social Security nuclear bomb is going to hit and make her a one term president.

God no to AOC, jeez
