A gradual rehab of Israel’s image would likely start via a replacement of Bibi and his radical coalition with a much more moderate coalition. But sadly, it appears that won’t be easy anytime soon. Until then, I don’t expect their image to recover, a sad situation. Perhaps eventually the reduced international support will induce Israelis to vote in more moderates. This is not the same Israeli leadership I knew going back several decades. It’s sort of paralleling what’s happened in the US with DT and company. To me Bibi is Israel’s Trump to a good extent. A lot of Israelis actually don’t like or even hate Bibi.

Israels image is fine with me. When you had Germans gassing Jews in locked "showers" then putting them in ovens i can see why they wont let it happen again.

The extreme atrocities of the Nazis notwithstanding, the Bibi coalition being inhumane with their war tactics isn’t imho a net help to prevent further atrocities to Jewish folks. Hopefully nothing even close to what the Nazis did will ever occur again. But a more hated less internationally supported Israeli govt, which also unfortunately leads to increased anti-semitism among the ignorant/scum, doesn’t exactly help the Jewish people. There has unfortunately recently been a sharp increase in anti-Semitism, which is of course never warranted and is always a horrible thing to see especially considering how much Jews have had to endure for 2,000+ years.
Folks piling on the anti-Israel bandwagon with fake anti-Israel news is also unfortunate to see. So many now enjoy hating Israel, which is uncalled for. Some of that is due to anti-Semitism. I’m still a supporter of Israel’s right to exist as a safe haven for Jews. But I want a much more moderate coalition to take over, which imho would be for the better.

For the record despite my anti-Bibi coalition posts, I don’t think that the terrible things the Bibi coalition has done to Palestinian women and children are anywhere near as bad as what the Nazis did to European Jews. Their goal was total extermination. A far, far lower percentage of Palestinian women and children have been killed thank goodness.
In general, there’s far too much false equivalence given to things happening today to the Holocaust. Blatant example among some mainly far left Americans: calling Alligator Alcatraz “Alligator Auschwitz”. That imho was disgusting false equivalence and in retrospect looks very silly now.

Yeah, I'm thinking these posts are tame by you, although I'm just browsing.
To keep it completely agnostic, even though it's a bit of a political viewpoint, some of what I've seen could legitimately bite down on the US left hard involving people who identify as Jewish if they're not careful, probably not this year, but could in a couple of years depending on the way the ball bounces.
Some younger people especially are not seeing how their criticisms are crossing the line into anti-Semitism.
Boring, same old bash Trump post from same old Trump haters. Btw I did not post that emoji in direct response to your post. Just a general "this is boring" comment, just my take

All valid points and I'm in no way saying this is equal to the holocaust. It's clearly not but that doesn't mean it's not a genocide. While not as vicious as what the germans did id argue dead is dead and theres dead Palestinians that arent concerned about the semantics of equivalence. Germans moved at shocking speed to kill millions. You are correct that far less women and children have been killed in Gaza BUT they are being killed. Isreal is doing it by bombing refugee camps, Hospitals and so on. Doctors without borders have reported to the UN women and children coming in with single gunshot wounds to the head and chest as if shot by snipers. You have isreali citizens showing no concern about these deaths and in one interview one lady asked about dead kids and she responds with "arab kids grow up to be Arab adults, who gives a ---- if they die"........
It may not be with the shock and speed of the holocaust but its surely a slow kill off of Palestinians. Starvation, bombings, shootings it's still all happening.
I've spent some time watching videos trying to get a better understanding of how the Isreali state operates and using more European media you get a better idea of what's really happening over there. Over here all we hear is "terrorist attack Isreal" but you don't hear about the beatings and killings by isreali settlers and IDF.
A little quiet in here compared to recent days. Is no news good news? Its usually the opposite in storm threads..

Getting more and more likely that it is over tbh. I’ll set the likelihood that it isn’t at about 20-30% here, I think since it feels iffier than last summer.
Probably need a bit lower on gas for it to be possible this slips away as a thing months from here, but I know I can say personally that I can grit my teeth and bear regular gas at these levels and even slightly higher, so it’s going to be hello to the southern part of WNC as of now for me in a few months. (can’t believe I didn’t get the gumption until recent years to do this)
And hopefully it rains enough for some good waterfall viewing.

Watched a video last night of a Palestinian man who's son was killed on their land by settlers. The settlers had taken over the man's land and he couldn't even go to where his son had been murderer even though it was his land. The settlers then chased the media that was there doing the story.
If that Palestinian man picked up a gun and killed the settlers I'm sure many here would call him a "terrorist" and they'd be wrong.
There's a reason the world view is changing against Isreal and it IS NOT anti-semitism it is reaction to Isreali actions.
