If we can do that, I am sure can drop drones on any missile site that pops its head up or any of Iranian leadership that you know the US knows where they are at. It just depends on if we do it or not.

Iran is nearly 1/3 the size of the contiguous US. ISR has come a long way but you're still limited by the sheer geography of the country. We've lost over a billions dollars alone in drones over Iran as those are susceptible to passive air defense which they have a lot of.

Imagine basing a fleet of refueling aircraft, fighter/bombers and personnel in Hamilton, Bermuda and being responsible for missions over the entire US east of the Mississippi River. That's a rough idea of what is happening over there.
 
There are 2 options that I see happening.
* We surrender to Iran in the Strait of Hormuz (We let the IRGC bully people in the Strait)
* We go to full-scale war and we go to an economic recession. IRGC will never compromise at all on Strait control. Iranian moderates are useless as the IRGC are in charge of negotiations.

This MOU was a complete crapshow from the beginning.

The only way Iran gives up control of the strait is through their cold dead fingers. It's their biggest weapon.

War? Yep. The MOU was just a delay tactic. Recession? Doubt it.
 
Gas gonna be headed for $5-6 nationwide, Iran can hit these ships regardless of Trump telling everyone we are the "Guardians of the Strait".....I wonder since he promised to protect ships going through the strait if that makes us liable for the damages etc.



Also reports from NYT suggest many more US troops injured than being reported

 
Once the decision was made to bomb in February, we never should have stopped.

It just seems like we were not prepared. At this point you either take the gloves off, or you give up control of the Strait and wash your hands. Without regime change Iran is not going to act different and they know their power is in controlling the strait.

Of course we weren't prepared. We were pushed into this by Isreal. Everyone wants Thursday election speech to mean something but the ones that are screaming fraud say nothing about AiPAC spending 30 million in Michigan right now.

Plus we had to distract from those emails talking about trumps friends needing more "jerky".

You'd need 9-12 months to train and stage enough people in theatre for that assuming there was a safe place to stage them. Then how would you get them to Iran? Iraqis and a Jordanians ain't gonna let us march through. They tolerate overflight but that's about it.

We don't have enough flight crews, aircraft or magazine depth to support indefinite operations like were seen in the first month of conflict. That's about all we had to give.

The ceasefire was as much a necessary operational pause than anything else. Carrier based ops need replenishment and land based ops were taking too much direct fire. Remember 5th Fleet home port in Bahrain is unusable now due to Iranian strikes so that hinders things.

Compared to large scale bombings done in the Vietnam era this is small scale in comparison.
