Pattern Sweatember

Greater KCLT and KEQY have had 71 90°+ this year (so far). Average is 44 - 30 days of 95° or higher making this the 5th warmest on record.

You have suffered my friend (you and Brent) - for chuck sake.

It's kind of funny to see all the summer is over posts here because the weekend is gonna be in the 90s again

I mean I get its better than 100s but a lot of people still consider that to be summer. Even today I've seen people saying 85 is still too hot. Especially when I saw posts over the about staying in the 70s if we had clouds... So much for that

I mean it is still September though. I've always felt like our big flip is in October typically. It's the first month we've had snow even

I just noticed that CHS this afternoon lowered my temps for late week into the weekend to the solidly BN range, thanks at least in part to the big nor’easter off the NE US:

FRIDAY
SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE UPPER 70S.
FRIDAY NIGHT
MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S.
SATURDAY
SUNNY. HIGHS AROUND 80.
SATURDAY NIGHT
MOSTLY CLEAR. LOWS IN THE UPPER 50S.
SUNDAY
MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS IN THE MID 80S.

The treadmill may get a break during this period! Hello park! It’s a wonderful time of the year!

Felt a little iffy early in the 7 AM hour at least at home but can definitely say the wedge is firmly locked in now.

Satellite suggests it's going to be a struggle to move higher as it looks like the clouds should stick around all day and I'm honestly not sure why my high by the NWS was bumped up to 77 tomorrow...the highest I've seen is 74 on modeling.

Anyone in the NC mountains feel the earthquake?

Boo… near my house and missed it.

Building all this cool air in Montreal to bring back home…

Have fun in Montreal, it's a great city to visit. I was there a couple of years ago in September, and it was warmish. Maybe low/mid 80s or so. Enough to be slightly uncomfortable in places with no AC. Think that was early September though.

I'll never forget hearing country music in French up there. 🤣

74 as a high.

Still some humidity, but this is glorious compared to how we started September. The high projected for tomorrow has been dropped to 71 now, which makes more sense.

Probably a good chance of widespread 50's because of the nor'easter pumping cool air, but then a warmup next week, then we'll see if we're getting our first traditional fall front afterwards.

GSO is at 80.0 for Sept 1-15th. Per model projections, GSO may flirt with 1921’s all time hottest Sept of 78.2! They look to obliterate 3rd place 2019’s 76.4 as things look now.

What a difference a week of forecast changes make! When I posted this 7 days ago, there was no notably cool air in site. It was then looking like for GSO that there’d be an obliteration of 3rd place 2019’s 76.4 and thus at least a new 3rd hottest Sep on record at GSO along with a shot at the warmest. But now thanks to a much cooler Sep 23 and progged Sep 24-30 vs what models were then showing, GSO now looks to not even make the top 5! The current projection is for 74.7, well below 2019. That would be 6th warmest and only 0.1 above 6th and 7th!

I took my first evening walk at the park of the season in lieu of the treadmill as a result of the cool and windy weather thanks to the strong wedge. It was only in the mid 60s along with winds gusting as high as ~25 mph. Due to dewpoints of 60, the RH was high. But the wind combined with the coolness made it feel great! Also, there was intermittent drizzle, which was unexpected and made it feel even cooler.
