Misc Sports Thread

No Hubert. Say it ain't so. Man, this is some bs. Those coach k wins alone should of been a lifetime contract for this man. This just ain't right. Hubert jersey retirement ceremony as coach next on the menu?
 
If I had to bet money on it, I'd lean Otzelberger as the next UNC coach. Donovan mentions are intriguing though.

I doubt you'll get an announcement for at least another week cause most of the candidates are still in the tourney, except Byington.

Take all that with a grain of salt. I'm not some high $$$ Rams club donor, I just pay attention..

Not much to talk about. ---- that guy.

Keatts and gottfried did better in year one and talked less ----. Dude is a mediocre coach and knows he needs astronomical NIL to overcome that. Hate that we are losing the guy that lost to uva, Louisville, and Duke by about 150 points combined

Kudos to Herb for getting NC State bball out of purgatory after the UNC system tried to kill it. Nothing bad to say about the man that just kind of ran it's course.

Mad respect for Herb. He did a really great job after the Les Robinson years. Crazy competition back then too. (Maryland/Duke/Wake/UNC half the time) Yes Wake was consistently good back then ya'll. Couldn't have been easy to recruit in those days and compete around here.

All I can say is good riddance. The guy seems to be poisonous and wasn’t able to bring the team together for the biggest games. As soon as all the talk started a couple days ago the writing was on the wall. You can float around the idea of leaving for more money, NIL or not, but you’re not going to stay in the good graces of the fan base once you give the impression that you don’t give a damn about the school and it’s history.

One thing I’ve really come to like about Doeren, despite the win-loss ceiling, is that he understands and embraces the culture of the fan base and the program. I think Keatts embodied that to an extent as well. We don’t need a coach that’s just in it for fame and fortune.

I am not sure the full details of the bolded will ever come out in the main stream but from what I have heard from the few people that I know that are somewhat connected the $$$$ donors wanted him gone as soon as the rumors started.

meh. Have players sign contracts and pay buyouts if they transfer then this conversation makes a lot more sense. I don't think these current NIL "agreements" are worth the paper they are written on.
 
That Cuck Will Wade better pray to god almighty they don’t have LSU come to Lenovo for SEC/ACC Challenge next year……Boo Coorigan said he didn’t even bother to resign himself…. Had his agent send an Email and now won’t pick up the phone apparently. What an absolute giant b***h. I’d leave my wife and daughter home if they come to Lenovo it won’t be a very fun night for daddy.

He left bc he’s afraid he can’t cut it. At State with the money he was given to construct a roster 21-13 won’t cut it. If he would’ve gone 21-11 ect 2 more years we would’ve fired him he knows this. At LSU he’s now 4th fiddle

3. WBB
4. MBB

Go 19-12 yearly and occasionally beat UK he’s a lifer there

Herb Sendek was probably the best basketball coach N.C. State has had since Valvano was dismissed. His record was good but not great and his style of play was slow tempo which does not produce the most exciting basketball to watch. These are the reasons N.C. State let him go. In hindsight, this ended up being not the best decision ever made.

And the guardrails are cool with me but let’s face it, these college coaches can’t stand to lose leverage on these kids.

Ik it’s Santa Clara ect …. But dude has been atleast winning everywhere he’s won 600+ games now.

Remember the days when 20+ win seasons were a Coaching Mark ? Like Coach X has had ….. 20 win seasons in a row ect. My CBB wishlist

1. Salary Cap (Yes some will still have more and that’s fine but needs to be reeled in a bit)

2. Get rid of NET and “Predictive” Metrics that can be Skewed by Stat Stuffing ect. Go back to Results based metrics what has a team ACTUALLY done “Who’d you beat? Where did you beat them? And maybe “When did you beat them” NET is the biggest crock of **** for Ex: State lost what 8/10 and a few by like 30-40 points and dropped 8 spots over that 30 day stretch bc some nerd came up with a metric for “Efficiency” ratings. Newsflash if you’re losing by 30-40 you’re not a good team.

3. Scrap some of these Preseason Tournaments we don’t need 9 million of them within 3 weeks in November that only 5-7 teams get invited to anyway yearly.

4. Make the NIT cool again. The NIT used to be used as a Program leaping pad into the next season to build. Accept the bid and go compete. TBH I’d have rather won the NIT than made “First Four” as a State Fan…. Idc call me a loser

5. Transfer Portal - Fine but Reel it in, You get a free pass once on your own accord then you sit out a year if you choose to go again. UNLESS proven family matter or coaching change ect

6. Stop Ranking Teams until Christmas …. No Data other than speculation is available in October why are teams already receiving good or bad press off speculation. Prove it on the floor in Nov/Dec and come Christmas see your name in lights deservingly

You NC State guys should pick up Hubert. He couldn't do any worse than what you have had in the past. I always like Valvano, and Herb for you guys. Who the hell is Will Wade anyway. He did you guys a huge favor by getting the hell out. You guys should be happy. No one is loyal to anyone anymore in college sports except for money.
