The SECOND time y'all have hired Mack and fired old Mack. In Mack we we still trust? What did you think was going to happen. He wanted to coach their forever.I wasn't surprised that North Carolina fired Mack Brown today but the timing of this decision caught me off guard. Firing him ten days before the first high school letter of intent signing day may not have been the best time to announce this decision. One four star commitment has already decided that he will not sign with the Tar Heels and there may be more to follow.
The first time Mack left, I think it was because he wanted to go to a program where football doesn't play second fiddle to basketball and he felt that Texas gave him the chance to go farther than ten wins every year and a top twenty finish. Texas gave him what he wanted with a national championship. When Texas fired him he came back to UNC but college football had changed so much in recent years and he was having a hard time adjusting to those changes. Mack Brown was a good football coach and it is sad to see him go out the way that he has.The SECOND time y'all have hired Mack and fired old Mack. In Mack we we still trust? If I was a college football coach, schools like UNC and Duke would be low on the list when it comes for a coaching gig just because basketball is king at both of these universities. Their fanbases and administrations just don't support football like other universities, especially in the SEC and Big Ten. In recent years the SEC has improved its basketball profile and the Big Ten has always had some good teams which goes to show that schools can build more than one successful program in one sport.I say this as someone who hates light blue more than most:
Mack is a good man. He cared a great deal about his players and has done enough for Chapel Hill that he deserved to call his own shot. I think he deserved to at least have the David Cutcliffe treatment.
Chiefs are .500 team when there historically incredible luck runs out. I have never seen a football team win this many games with such flukey luck.
Last year the defense was the best in the league. The defense this year is very good but not elite. The panthers hung 27 on them and Baker put up big numbers without any WRs.10th year in a row in the playoffs is just insane
I keep thinking they'll lose and they never lose the games that matter
Like the Raiders beat them last year and yet it didnt change anything
Agree. Both Duke and UNC have witnessed terrible football before. For UNC the Fedora, Bunting, and Torbush years featured many 4-8, 5-7, 3-9 type seasons. Each of Mack Brown 2.0 seasons had us in a bowl. As a UNC football fan I’m fine with that. Unless UNC is serious about building a football program, I want Mack. Otherwise, get use to going back to the years before Mack hoping we can win a single game.I say this as someone who hates light blue more than most:

Either is their defense . LolI had Georgia Tech winning against Georgia. Their offense is not the same as last year.
I’m in awe of the turnaround since being benched. Obviously the panthers aren’t making the playoffs this year but it’s actually enjoyable watching them play again. I hope the last few games aren’t a fluke and he keeps improving. We got us a quarterback
Kirk doesn’t have an arm anymore.Looks like the Falcons are returning to Earth. Our defense is doing good but our offensive is regressing. Hoping our offense gets back on track.
Potential Post Of The Year!!!We're making available all of our finest coloring books tonight with Auburn being in town.
Wouldn’t he achieve job security in the NFL now as a coordinator and later as a HC?Boy, that would be interesting! His track record as a winner is unquestioned but with his reputation of playing fast and loose with the rules might give the Carolina football program the NCAA death penatly if he is up to his old tricks from the NFL. This would be a roll of the dice if he accepted the Carolina postion. According to a report I read his son who is the defensive coordinator for the Wasington Commanders (Redskins) would join the Carolina coaching staff. Job security for his son might be the motiviation for Belichick if he were to turn the Carolina program around.
