I like finding old bottles, fossils, and other treasure buried beneath substrate.
I like old artifacts as well. My old garden at my parents property was near an old homestead. Found lots of blue bottles over the years and one blown glass door knob.

Lately I’ve had good luck finding a lot of Morrow mound points including on my new property while weeding my potatoes.

I have been collecting sports cards for decades. Also enjoy antiquing and playing sports, whatever is going on....softball, basketball, football, ultimate frisbee, golf, cornhole, volleyball, tennis, ping pong, darts, volleyball, pool, shuffle board, badminton, croquet let's go!

Traveling - for any reason. I love traveling. Business or pleasure makes no difference. Any excuse to travel is a good excuse lol.
Planes, trains, automobiles, ships, or simply walking/hiking. Braves games, beach trips, ice-fishing, national parks, star gazing in the middle of nowhere, family visits, i like it all.

I'm kind of a combination of RC and Cyclogent; I love sports and games, even board games, cards, chess, pool, etc. I also love to travel though it's harder with a family :). If I won the lottery that's one of the main things I would do. I also have a fascination with antiques and have a small antique book collection. Nothing extremely old or valuable but some cool ones nonetheless. I also like hiking to waterfalls with the fam.

I love to fish on my days off when the wife doesn't have me busy. I used to bass fish competitively but now seem to find more pleasure in crappie fishing.

I have way too many hobbies.

1. Old coins mainly gold and silver
2. Model Villages and trains
3. Automotive Alterations
4. Traveling
5. Sports, mainly water sports currently
6. Sailing
7. Gardening
8. Real Estate mainly land
9. Thinking of new hobbies apparently

What’s your oldest US precious coin, gold or silver? Do you use PCGS for grading?

I like disc golf too, some excellent courses in North Carolina. Bag always stays in the truck in case I pass by one and have some time, even for a short time. I can drive a disc >300’ with some level of accuracy, unlike a golf ball.

My most precious are I have a series of 1790's silver dollars in decent condition. Had those appraised. I've used PCGS a bit but figure I'll spend some of my retirement going through them. Have a lot of very random and old Roman, great Britain coins. Probably a larger international collection than US overall.

I’m with you. I just stick to Morels and Chanterelles.
Chants are my fave!

My foraging is more hiking and if I find something great. I have so many spots.

I hardly ever eat the actives, just give them away. Cherokee county is a hotspot for Psilcybe Caeruluscens AKA Weilii. They aren't hard to find in good conditions and they don't grow on cow dung. And they are twice as strong as Cubensis.

Lol. I better not let my father know that. He used to partake back in the 60s and 70s.

We could make a fortune on Chants at my families property in Cherokee. I can pick them by the bushel down the whole creek valley and still leave plenty to repopulate. Morels are nonexistant there though.

Pretty close to having the fall version of one of my hobbies set up. Makes the man cave a bit more crowded this time of year.

August was a good month finding treasure in Eastern NC, found my first OG Civil War site, along with some other cool spots as I’m now in to water hunting. My checkout dives for open water cert are next weekend, planning to move quickly in to rescue, full face mark and advanced SCUBA as I'm after the dark water.8AF70764-A2C2-4100-93BD-B5BC9C5A1FAA.jpeg

Have you ever been to Bentonville? My dads neighbor had a lot of tin and bullets from there. I remember looking through them as a kid.

It's on my radar, most of it is behind historical preservation so no go. I'm a year in, first picked up a detector last Spring, 70% research, 25% permission, finding it is the easy part as long as it's still in the ground. Diving these rivers and creeks, particularly old fords/crossing points, is going to open up a new chapter. Always open to new permissions for scouting if you know someone who would be interested, I always scout/test before committing the hours. Think of it as a perk test.

A week turned in to 2 in NY, but I’ve finally made my way back to Eastern NC. What an awesome trip, after Digstock 4 I spent a couple days detecting the old stone barracks in Plattsburgh, ca 1838. I found an 1840s general service A (first) and two early pewter 4th buttons, circa 1808-1811, war of 1812 types. Albert's GI41B is the closest match I can find to them.

I ended up spending 6 nights in eastern NY close to the MA boarder after leaving Platt, scored two permissions (2for2), one an 1880s Inn and Tavern and as mentioned in my previous post a small 2 acre parcel, the house my wife was raised in.

The Inn/Tavern was diffenitly detected previously but I did manage to score some cool relics and my first braided hair large cent (1849), other notables were two bag seals, my first ox knob, gold ring, copper spoon, and a few other period items.

Heather’s old house produced some of the best finds for the trip, what an amazing site, I got in about 12 hours over the course of 4 days, 1805 draped bust on day 1, first whole US large cent and then my first CT coppers on days 2 and 3, both 1787 Miller33 variants I believe. Close to 30 buttons, 13 were lifted on day 2 including a Irish constable button made in Dublin, a couple dandys, I’ve only been detecting for a couple years, in March is 2, while I think the homesite was just north of where I was at I’m pretty sure the area was worked in the late 1700s and not been touched by a MD.

Super jelly for those who live up in New England, pictures to follow.
