Yeah that is great. The only other suggestion I would have is to remove the temps from the shoreline and maybe have a tad more of a realistic ocean and land (Canada) image. But that may not be possible or easy.

But either way, that is awesome!! Thanks man.

Ill work on refining it a bit. The just offshore temperature stuff is native from ndfd so ill have to find a way to prune it off. Ill probably keep the ocean and Canada basic for now so I'm not pulling a bunch of heavy stuff into the load. If we do this on the site and not my pc we can load a much better background

Sounds good. Those are just nice to haves. I wish you'd teach me how to do all this šŸ˜…
 
are there any images, views, graphs that aren't out there or aren't easily available you guys would like to see?

FYI model images take up a lot of space and things like the good graphics on the Euro cost $$ so if you want to see those on southernwx we will have to have 10 more donation drives

Like maybe some of the day to day teleconnection trends (PNA, NAO, EPO) etc. Just to have a quick go-to like GAWX posts (not to steal his thunder though). Some great stuff on this thread btw SD

I used ncep/ncar reanalysis instead of era5.

Source that file, select the day of year, xarray.interp to get it on the gfs grid, gfs height minus climo height to get the anom

Now I'm going to have to buy more storage for my computer lol ive got it maxed out

Oh okay, I do a +/- 10 day mean average too. NCEP/NCAR is certainly more lightweight. I put everything on my 1 tb drive
