This one has the potential to be July 1st 2012 level bad. If I have a forecast high of 101 and im 9 miles off the beaches the coastal plains and Sandhill crew are gonna be cooking.
Radar estimate don't lie, close but no big dog today, got .18

Wa about a 10 minutes away from slipping through another gap but it blew up this time. Might get a quick .25 in hch from this. Some CG close by as well.

This line gave me .45 and the best light show of the year by far. The clean air CGs after the storm passed were pretty neat.

Can't even tell it rained the other night
For what it's worth, I believe today was the first day GSO reached 100 while RDU failed not too since July 9, 1993.

Pretty wild that Winston's 100 yesterday was the first time since 2012 officially at Smith Reynolds. It obviously takes a very particular set of circumstances for that to happen. Considering RDU hits 100 multiple times most summers, it's odd to me that the conditions it took for Winston to hit 100 don't produce a 100 degree day there. Weather be weird sometimes
I think it is the way this heat dome is migrating. Kind of anomalous.

Looks like heat more uniformly distributed today between foothills across piedmont to W coastal plain throughout the state.
RDU sensor sat out yesterday for a rest day, but looks like its ready to make a go at being being the high scorer in the league again. Stats stuffer no doubt.

Did something this morning that I should've done some time ago... relocated the Tempest to a better location. Spot it was in is the hottest spot on our property (proximity to house

As long as that mcv in SW NC doesn't hit the gas pedal and race across the state before peak heating anyone to its east looks pretty decent for storms today

Gfs has backed off any appreciable rain for me until after 228hr mark of the run. Seasonal trends are hard to break
The GFS and the NWS in Raleigh are on different pages with rain chances this week. NWS Raleigh is pretty bullish about most of North Carolina receiving some rain this week, especially tomorrow and Wednesday in the near term while the GFS shuts off the precipitation pipeline.
Let's hope the GFS forgot to take its medications again.

1 pm and the rain has started. We have hit todays high temp already. Should be a lot of pop up hit an miss showers storms next 7 days.
If we can get July behind us. We atleast can start seeing light at end of tunnel as we roll through August. But 1st things 1st. Reason July is my least fav month of the 12 . It is 90+ everyday and takes forever to navigate through. Long month that just crawls along.

Point&click outlook currently has coolest days here Tuesday & Wednesday, high 94/low 74. I used to love hot weather when I was younger, but obviously I didn’t know any better back then.
The line of showers and thunderstorms about to roll through Wake County on radar looks good to me. Let's hope we get more of the same tomorrow and Tuesday.
