NAM still holding its ground! Does the NAM account for Ice and Snow in its Snow Total maps?

Too bad we couldn't get a phase with that trailing energy right there in AL. That would be one epic ULL bomb. It would likely have phased in the NE or not at all if that extrapolated. Still one huge ULL.

The March 09 ULL was 3 contoured and was about 100 or so miles farther south.

Bring me a system like that and I'm all for another go! Got 3" here from it and some great rates as well. Was better SE of here, so N GA would get another good storm go. I'm not going to wishcast more lol, but in reality, we are likely looking at flakes to maybe a dusting unless a SE shift occurs, then game on.

Chris, can we get a slight chance (at least) of severe to the East with that look? I really need to learn more about severe!

Thanks that what I was looking for. This obviously is more of a setup for Mid South/North Bama.

I'll never forget though that parts of East Alabama got thundersnow.

It's unfortunate that this is already negatively titled based on the 500mb heights so that will move the storm more northeastward instead of eastward. Who knows though...ULLs are unpredictable and just a couple of days ago, the ULL wasn't even close to tracking near GA.

Spann:
Models continue to suggest that rain could very well change to snow over parts of North Alabama Friday night in the colder air, and before the deeper moisture lifts out. As you might expect, there is a wide range of possibilities across model output, but consistency in the idea is good. The European model (12Z run) is the most aggressive, suggesting accumulating snow for about the northern third of the state, but the GFS shows little accumulation and nothing more than snow flurries or snow showers.
Bottom line is that it is simply too early to call at this point. We can’t rule out the chance of some snow accumulation or travel impact Friday night; we will be able to be much more specific in coming days as the event gets closer. But remember, there is a chance there will be nothing more than flurries.

Lmao Huntsville nws says warm ground temps will limit accumulation. Lol we had almost a full week in the frozen tundra. I guess they forgot when everyone was screaming warm ground temps in early December and some place in east central Alabama and Georgia got a foot

Nevermind, GSP just issued KCAE's forecast and are mentioning it being alarming/tornado threat down this way.

ground will be much colder than it was then

I just check my ground temp. It is at 49.0.
I have infared Red laser that tells me the temp of objects.

What exactly is Mid South ? I guess anything north of I-20 ?
Midsouth is roughy west tennessee, northeast arkansas, missouri bootheal, area. NWS MEG covers a lot of the area that might be considered "mid-south."

Interesting. I would think from a geography prospective places like Chattanooga and Charlotte would also be Mid South. Or are they considered the Upper South ?
