Pattern May-hem

The wind has really picked up here the past hour...disturbance is getting closer. Warmed up nicely today, currently sitting at 69.6. Hit 70.7 earlier. Got a few more clouds now as well.

Any reports of hail out of this system so far??

Sitting in the low 50s upper 40s where I am at, down from 60 not too long ago. Raining lightly to moderately. Only rain though. Heard Pigeon forge had some snow. Can anyone confirm?

NWS isn't reporting any; they did have .01" but it was 47º when that spit occurred

Started pouring here again, looks like coverage has picked up quite a bit the last hour surprisingly. Swore it was supposed to dry out instead of develop? lol.

55.0

Lol exactly what I was thinking. Kept raining up here, and has finally ended. Took an extra hour or two to end than modeled. At least the drought is being hit!

Thanks in part to the MJO, confidence continues to increase that we'll have a favorable longwave pattern for severe weather in the plains during the 3rd week of May. Definitely gonna try to go out there and chase with a few college buddies if I can.

Live from the plains with Eric Webb sounds like a must

I swear we had some very light rain for a while earlier tonight without the radar showing anything, but it might have just been my ears playing tricks on me because of the wind.

Still looking good after a brief warm up the next few days ... We'll see ...

^I'm all in for this or at least I'm hopeful. I want some more sweat free walking to add to the current period of sweatlessness!

Devil's Millhopper? :p

If I were in Gainesville this evening, you'd better believe I'd right now be at Veterans Memorial Park soaking in the deliciousness of the current dryness!
Great job on your 49 prediction for last night. Bullseye! What are you predicting for tonight?

50º with luck; 51º probably!

I say this with 100% sincerity. I hope Gainesville has one of its trademark surprise to the chilly side radiational cooling plunges, the kind that made it world famous for its ability to radiate. With a high of 88, even a 51 would mean a beautiful 37 degree drop!

My folks down the street would think I'm totally nuts (which might be a good bet) if we get below 50 tonight - which I'm thinking could happen - but I'm being conservative on the 51º ...

PS - The beauty of it is - I live next to the woods and don't need to get in a car to drive to improved N FL - all the oaks (and skeeters) I want are right around the corner - for miles ...

During 7-8 PM, Gainesville cooled nicely. However, the subsequent hour's drop was way smaller. I attribute some of this slowdown to persistent 10+ mile an hour winds.

Stellar day for May! Hit 66.7 this afternoon! About 8 degrees below normal or so according to accuwx. Pretty impressive!

Gainesville never could get its radiational cooling act fully together as the low was 56 although even that was a 32 degree drop. They actually could end up cooler tonight interestingly enough.

SAV had a cool 51.
