Pattern May-hem

Speaking of sleet, just checked some NWS forecasts and even forecasts down as far south as Canton are showing rain/sleet for tomorrow. Seems a bit of a stretch though?

Might, might, might just work ...

Not sure this has been posted anywhere else, but I'm hearing that KFFC radar is back online (though it may be off and on for the next few hours as technicians continue to work on the system).

I cannot resist - Kentucky Fried Chicken radar ... o_O

Anyone up for October May sleet chase lol? Really this is so crazy wild, I've never seen a May like this.

I saw in the FFC Discussion they said sleet could mix as far south at Atlanta tomorrow o_O

The latest on record going back to the late 1800's for any wintry precip at ATL is 4/25 (in 1910). So, it would be an amazingly anomolous event if sleet or graupel were to mix in with the rain on 5/5!! The closest to this happening in my lifetime was the cold rain of 5/7/1992, when the NC mtns got walloped with a huge snowstorm. That was after the 1991-2 El Nino.

The record low high for 5/5 at KATL is 58. set in 1931, after the 1930-1 El Nino. That could easily be broken.

Edit: It is 61 at 10 PM and has fallen quite a bit the last hour. Also, temp.'s to the NW are 57-8. So KATL will have a shot at getting down to 58 or lower by midnight, which would allow for the chance to have a high of 58 or lower tomorrow for a record low high.

Saturday might be a fun day in the carolinas with plenty of sun to start then increasing clouds with showers and a few storms. Pretty good small hail potential with those

I had a nice surprise bonus line of heavy showers come through a few minutes ago dropping a beautiful 0.50" in less than 1/2 hour. This was nice to see because the late afternoon thunderstorms gave me very little (~0.10"). So, the total event has given me a nice 0.60" of much needed rainfall. Together with the early in the week rain, I got a very nice 1" this week. I can hold off on the watering for the time being. :)

It amazes me that next weekend looks cool as well with highs here in the 70s possible upper 40s nights. Wow i just cant lol.

Let's see where the models go as time progresses and then on out past truncation, but through the 10th, looks to be much cooler than normal, for sure ...

Not sure if I like the idea of Barney colors in May...

It's 50 degrees at my house with a projected high of 52 on May 5th! Wow this really is Mayhem! Don't think I've ever experienced temps this cold in May in the 11 years I've lived here.

Edit: To be more clear I've never experienced temps like this for highs in may. Obviously many lows in the 40s in may as my average low is 50 degrees on this date.

Looks like global warming is really starting to shake things up with these amped up rossby waves.

All for this. No today is too dreary, but the weather after today is pretty much perfect. Even when it gets warm again it doesn't skyrocket into the 90s.
