Wintry Jan 9-10 2024 Wrap around Snow

We have done better on these setups in recent years it seems. The last few runs have had a bit more wrap around moisture.

This evening's rain/snow showers will be on a W to WSW flow implying that precip will push further east into Georgia than is usual for these backend events. Surface temps are marginal for even novelty flakes for Atlanta and areas east though.

Interesting enough for me to keep an eye on the thermometer and radar. But then again, I'm easily suckered in lol.

I’m over in Forsyth tonight. Might drive up to Dahlonega and see if I can catch a car topper. A little elevation might help
Cold air is really lagging tonight, there is definitely another boundary yet to come through. I would drive on up to Suches if you’re that close, 3k is better then 1450’.

The band that just pushed through here must’ve been associated with a boundary of some kind. I’m down to 43 with most observations west of 575 a bit cooler. Had a solid wind gust also

And you’re seeing flakes in the Birmingham area?
Yeah I just left a Mexican restaurant and it's still flurrying slightly in vestavia. Much less than it was an hour ago though. About an hour ago on top of shades mountain it was A lot more like light snow.
