Wintry Jan 23-27 Winter Storm Obs

Line has made it to me. Seems to be half and half IP and ZR. Winds out of the west now and gusty. Temps at 29.
32.5 now. Very gusty winds. Rain picking up with perhaps a pinger or two.

No radar returns and light ZR, all the sleet has a glaze on top of it with the top of trees having that glaze look to them

20.9 here in Huntersville, pretty dry out, hoping to stay that way, lol
Spoke too soon. Seems to be most/all sleet now. Temp up to 30 and rising.
Wow. Now back to pouring sleet east of Alpharetta

We are mixing now with sleet. What a wild day. Up to 30.6.
Starting to get somewhere here with steady light ZR. Hope that last punch is sleet

The heaviness of the precip definitely helped limit the full ZR potential down here. Feel like a lot of it just ended up as runoff.

Sleet and rain coming down good. Heavier returns toward Roswell/Kennesaw should be here soon, wonder if that’ll be sleet as well

I was just thinking, the trees now are well and bent over and we are doing this for another 2 hours at least before at least the HRRR hints at us getting above freezing/precip dries up?
Light freezing rain has resumed just ahead of the squall line. 28.5
My guess for the Upstate is you'll see some sleet mix in initially but the "stratiform" behind the initial push is probably ZR

Had about 1/8th inch of ice on trees. Had gust of high winds and took down a limb in back yard Then had a heavy downpour that turned into a drizzle.Ice is melting on tress but now rain with sleet.Temp 32 dew point 32
The second batch is just moving in now. It’s freezing rain and 27. It may go to sleet when the heavier bands move in by what those by Atlanta are saying
