Will be interesting to see what falls when leading edge of this radar indicated precip begins in Charlotte momentarily. The radar has had a hard time picking up what’s been falling here so far. I have a feeling it’s gonna be sleet.

I could be just half asleep, but I am fairly certain there are some pingers mixed in with the ZR at the moment. It's not a lot, but definitely hearing something bounce around every now and then. Steady at 28.7.

Is it just me or is radar starting to fill back in to our SW?
Yep. I suspect we'll see light returns continue to fill in as the southerly flow aloft rides over the wedge.

I can't believe it, but I have a flizzard to go along with ZR and sleet. Very tiny flakes but crystals nevertheless.

27.9°. Sleet, freezing rain, and I think it almost - and maybe I need more coffee - looks like some of those pixie dust “flakes” mixing in a little bit.

Can’t tell how much glaze is on the trees, but ground and neighborhood roads are whitening up.

Most importantly, power is on. Long way to go, but so far, so good here.

No doubt on the power. That was my biggest worry. So far so good.

Wasting too much time here in a dry slot. Freezing drizzle . Upsatate looks to be getting clobbered with sleet!

It’s sleeting really hard with some freezing drizzle too. I don’t expect the sleet to hold out much longer. 925’s have warmed 3 degrees in 2 hours in Spartanburg county while 850’s continue to increase.
yeah 850's torched all the way to the NC/VA border.

Temp has risen 1/2 a degree in the past half hour or so. I've probably bottomed out at 27.9. 28.4 now.

Oh, and my mini flizzard continues, lol.

Precip is filling in really well back towards Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. You can see the WAA starting to backfill down in South Alabama now too. HRRR just keeps upping the QPF. It’s got us getting more right now in its most recent runs that it was showing for the entirety of the storm and that’s with what’s already fallen. FRAM ice is 0.5-0.75” in the upstate still expected

Upon further inspection there is virtually no tree glaze here. Moderate/heavy sleet and ice crystals. It’s like it’s freezing just in the nick of time

Has anyone here in Georgia gotten more than a glaze of freezing rain? Seeing reports of sleet in some areas, and a glaze of freezing rain in others.

Not here in commerce. Still heavy sleet and some flurries. Minor glaze only

I looked outside a tad bit and while it's hard to see, it doesn't look like much ice on trees so far. This freezing rain has been so heavy that it doesn't seem to be accreting very efficiently. My worry is after the heavy stuff has gone through, it'll start to build up better with the lighter stuff.

I spotted a twig laying in the street that looked to have maybe eyeballing it around or just under 1/10 inch radial ice accretion, but most of the actual trees and branches are mainly lightly glazed, especially the grass. Mixed precip with periods of sleet under heavier returns have been cutting down on freezing rain totals here in north Fulton near Cherokee border (Roswell/Milton).

Surprisingly more sleet than anticipated. Looks like light glaze on the trees, and elevated surfaces are covered in ice (maybe 0.1-0.2, but haven’t measured yet). Currently, mostly freezing rain with a little sleet. 27.5°.

Been happening this whole time. Bands overnight have looked so good coming out of South Carolina then boom disappears the second it gets near the lake.

Yep. It seems to me like too large of an area to be caused by the lake, but something is definitely off.

Steady sleet here with over 1/2” on the ground. I was so excited to see that we are still sleeting with very little glazing so far. I was worried when everyone was reporting freezing rain last night.

It’s so cold! I think every model was too warm. It’s 15 here.
