Seriously. I'm so tired of it... We barely even had a winter anyway. I mean we set a record for days over 70... Yet all I've heard about was the complaints about it's been too cold. When? It was literally cold like 5 days the entire winter
 
South Carolina is finally #1 in something. Dirtiest power generation in the lower 48 today. ☠️☠️☠️

Santee Cooper has managed to pull more out of their coal fired plants today. We can get even dirtier if they fire up the oil fired peaker in Myrtle Beach this weekend.

Not sure how successful I'm going to be at this considering the job market, my anxiety, what I can probably work in, and what not, but welp, I'm finally doing what I should've considered a long while ago. Thought I'd wait before starting to do so, but I couldn't.

I'm going to try and line up a job and at least test out moving away from my hometown. I've started out with Chattanooga, and ha, my mom said she'd love the idea of that (my last grandparent that's still with us resides in NW GA).

I should've done this when I was a few years younger as if I actually pull this off, it's going to be this huge shock for me. I ended up getting too comfortable overall, and it'll probably bite at some point for me, but thanks to some life stuff, I really would like to do this (at the very least, I'd like to line up a new job near home).

Not really looking for tips, but my CPC (medical coding) and what I've done working wise can probably translate to front desk medical and very, very basic stuff with coding/insurance/billing (I've started to lose what I learned in schooling there unfortunately).

I wouldn't say that, I think its dependent on the current years conditions/patterns. I think it would take a 10-20 year synopsis to determine a shift. People say every year that this or that state is the new hurricane alley but I still think its Florida.

Really thought based off what I saw when I got home that we got more, but we probably got .1-.2" max.

Disappointing. And it absolutely was oppressive outside this evening. 7 days to go and I'll be at least at 2k feet, if not higher for a day in southwest NC (main target is Gorges State Park, which is lower in elevation than where I'll be staying) and I know based off my keeping a close eye that you can subtract 8-10 degrees from home, if not even higher. I should've made this longer in the first place, but I worry since this is my first real attempt at doing this (though me making this longer in this case may not necessarily target NC).

Same - and you know its close cause you can hear the claps of thunder, winds picks up, with gusts and create a mess with leaf debris all over the yard (right after the landscaper is done, of course) . Rinse and repeat that for the last 3 months -

I thought i was going to get smoked yesterday missed by 4 miles. Had to go inside and watch someone else storm so I didn't get struck by lightning
 
The time has come. Have any of you old timers (55+) ever said.... I'm moving to the weather that I want. We are looking at property in Dupont (Cedar Mountain, NC. Close to Brevard and Pisgah too) at 3000 feet. Viewed it several times. Even pulled up the weather here in CLT vs there countless times.

I love the mountain biking, hiking and summer temps plus the opportunity for more "Winter" during actual winter :)

Buy the property and then building.

Anyone else taken that leap with weather ...somewhat in mind?

Below normal temps
Prolonged cold
Snow more than 2 inches
Winter storms
Rain
The core of a thunderstorm
Highs below 95 in June July and August
My tempest saying something more than very light rain

Hey go for it. If I had the money I probably would have already. I dunno I mean our winters are better here in some ways for sure compared to where I grew up but when it's zero degrees with 30 mph winds and doesn't really snow yeah it's not exactly fun either and there's been a couple winters like that already. That became very clear to me in February 2021. Not to mention the summers here are absolutely horrid and drag on forever. I've never lived in a place where it's pretty much hot into October every year and that's also getting old

And this is actually the worst part to me the hype here is out of control. Can't even open social media without endless posts about how everything is the worst ever and yeah it gets tiring to see it every week not to mention the endless fear posts everytime we get a severe weather setup from people who can't even read a map. It would be nice to get away from that

But I'm not tied down here either. It's definitely something I think about. I'm definitely here through most of 2027 at least

I have an uncle that moved up to West Jefferson on some old family land and he loves it. Quite a bit higher elevation though and they get a lot of NW flow snow in winter.

I haven't actually been to this general area, but I fell in love with the area that is to the west of it as a 14 year old.

I'll actually say that I miscounted and I have been to North Carolina 5 times and I've passed through it three times for the GSMNP and Johnson City, TN when my dad wanted to see a mountain bald. I didn't count Asheville when I initially rambled on this because it was honestly slightly disappointing. I might not mind going back though at some time because I've had a new interest develop (Biltmore Estates, there might be a gardens there?).

5 days from here will be the 3rd time to the same general area of SW NC ha. I'm familiar enough with Cashiers that I actually even have the two restaurants for dinner picked out, one being a replay from 2020 as I really liked the salmon BLT lol. I do wish I can move here, but with the way I see it, this is a vacation area and while I probably do have enough money to facilitate a move, can I really feasibly go towards a vacation area?

I do need to get out of this job though and in a best-case scenario, away from my childhood town (due to something that I'd prefer to keep private), and I was reminded of the former today. I like my manager, but with the system that we have...sigh, it's not worth it to ask for help if it's going to be a 1 person team for a couple hours now (it's typically 3, but one person is having surgery and the other had an appointment).
