Misc General Banter Thread

Actually he was asking what we've all asked of members posting. If your gonna say this or that is gonna happen, explain why you think that. A little insight, don't just pop in make a click bait post and poof. It's not complicated
Oh ok got it. Let me go back and see where he gave his insight on why he thinks the opposite.

Woke up in a good mood, maps showing I might actually get snow this weekend made things in a better mood. I'm hoping things continue trending positive.

If work today goes great, I'll be awfully suspicious of a rug pull tonight

This is the one boys. Foot or bust.

Haha hope it goes better for y'all than it did here

I was literally like what the heck is going on at our rates most of the storm last weekend

We had models showing 2 feet here too

I mean it was still a big snowstorm but like the very low end is what ended up verifying

I don’t have anything scientific to back it up but it’s just so rare we get 6+ snows in the Carolina’s anymore. I do think we can all squeeze out 1-3 or so. That would be a big win with how it’s been the last few winters.

I’ll believe in 20:1 ratios when I see them.

Yeah see I felt like our storm here fell flat because at no point was I ever like dang this storm could actually be historic once it was actually happening. I mean we had a dude come back to TV just for it for what amounted to 36 hours of light snow basically haha. The hype was unreal. In a place we've actually had 2 6 inch snowstorms in the last 5 years. It barely beat them

There were many times I could look out my patio and see where I had been 2 hours earlier.... Even though it was snowing the entire time. Something was just missing the whole storm

The placement of a "dry slot" is going to bounce around until 0 hour. Models struggle to accurately place it in Miller Bs and that is way more predictable. In this setup, with the ULL passing to the coastal, that precipitation minimum is going to bounce 100 miles in either direction run to run

it's hard to describe how uniquely crippling last week's storm was form richmond.

we received a 3 inch slurry of snow and sleet topped off with about 0.3 inch freezing rain. it is terrible. it has armor. it is impossible to shovel. my street hasn't been plowed yet and we're in total black ice hell. i watch cars- 4 wheel drive cars- spin out through my kitchen window each morning. currently watching a tacoma fighting for its life.

in order to get through my yard i use a broomstick to puncture the ice and use it as a cane to get to my car. then i leave the broomstick there for when i come back. the snowpack does not break- it fully supports your weight. my neighbor filmed an insta story of her literally ice skating in her backyard yesterday. it just gets worse with the light thaw to refreeze cycle.

a ton of businesses are still doing these slow rolling cancellations just because people can't park and walk to things. 4 straight day my pilates studio (you heard that right) cancelled their slate of classes. you can barely walk around, you can't run, and no idea when it will go above freezing again.

Its been bad here in the western part of the state as well. I';ve shoveled a few different times now and its been hell each time, does not help when you get plowed into a spot and then you have to dig out the whole wall of packed snow and sleet. Almost all of the public schools are still out, Virginia Tech is finally back today.

We were virtually all snow here besides like 5 sleet pellets and the schools are still closed. The main roads are fine but you get into the neighborhoods and it's quite a shock

And yeah walking is a challenge in some areas

We got above freezing for 4 hours yesterday

My apartment complex is a sheet of ice basically and has a lot of shade that will not melt til it's probably 60 degrees. The front of the office is the worst spot I've ever seen for melting haha

I'm thinking that as well based on the timing last week. They pulled the trigger around 72 hours from onset on the last event? Maybe early afternoonish. We'll see!

Yeah they were issuing really early here(of course the hype was insane like I've mentioned).... Norman had a warning even by Wednesday night at the late newscast haha for a start on Friday night

I would definitely expect watches this afternoon

you feel all 1.19 inches of qpf doing any of this stuff. going to sound like a copout but i'm still in post-op ankle rehab and cant shovel. don't have the leverage or the stability. so my place remains entombed until further notice

pt has signaled boot will come off this friday which i'm pretty excited about. we're doing a lot of walking/stability exercises now. just in time for me to walk to the bar on saturday. hoping that i'll get the ok to walk 9 by mid feb, i actually bought a sunday golf bag that carries 5 clubs to ease back into things

speaking of btw, i walked pete dye river course a few times this past fall while day tripping from richmond to boone/asheville (its on 81). Might be my favorite public course in virginia at this point. such a fun, unique track you got there. in one of the rounds in september, i was paired with a VT senior who said he paid 35 bucks to walk. we got rained out after hole 8 and shared some $3 millers in the clubhouse. excellent time. that's quite a deal you guys got going on over there
