I have a friend who lives in Richmond, VA so I'm closely monitoring their forecast. TWC App is showing 12-20" of snow for them this weekend !

Some of yall must be refreshing the hell out of this place. Going to have to have a fundraiser to keep up with the activity right now

Thinking about buyin 1 or 2 of the battery packs that charge your phone just in case we need it. Does anyone know if they work good or have any they recommend?

If you have the spare cash, look at one of the portable battery power banks. They can be charged before a storm and with LFP chemistry can sit at 100% with no harm. They're also really handy for camping or beach days if you have a small solar panel to recharge them. We have 2 and I use mine to run a portable freezer/refrigerator all day when my work truck isn't running.

What do you all consider a win for this storm? I would (of course) prefer all snow, but a 4+ sleet storm would be great as well. And, the weather weenie in me would take freezing rain over cold rain. Don't want to lose my power for a week but also don't want to miss out in the winter storm....

Not losing power for a week amid lows in the 10-15 range

At this point I'm going to fill up every propane cylinder I can get my hands on. Got enough hurricane season gas to run the generator for a few days but the cold is more a concern.

Could this power a microwave as well?

MagSafe works great. I have 3.
MagSafe is great for general use, but if you want to get the most life out of devices between charges, use usb-c. MagSafe/inductive charging loses a lot of energy.

Avoid cheap brands. You aren’t getting away from Chinese built, but consider Anker. Also small solar batteries aren’t a bad idea. If you want something that can charge phone in a days long outage. Anker has options.

If you want bigger batteries, I’m very happy with my Ecoflow. But it gets expensive. Will run TV and internet for well over a day. But space heater, forget. It all about wattage.

That FRZN Mean too ….. Lord, I’ve seen what you’ve done for others. These next 11 days Can I have 12-18” with 1/4” ICE on top This weekend stay below 33 until next Thursday and then get 8-12” again and head down to Savannah next Friday for Anniversary weekend

6+ I've seen too many images of once in a life time outputs at this point

Seen the post about the power banks and generators. What’s the best propane heater to use indoors? We just moved back to a rental house in Thomson, GA while we build and I’m not set up here for a prolonged power outage with the cold. Plus I have 2 under 2 at home now. May end up at my parents cause they’ve got a whole home generator but want a heater or 2 just in case.

I bought 2 of these for like half that price during covid. Only used the one in the house once but it puts out lots of heat.

I’m expecting based on history for sleet to be the dominant p type
It’s still a pretty good ways off meaning it could obviously change substantially. But IF the 12Z Euro were to verify closely, I agree and think based on 850s, 925s, and 2m that a large portion of that in ATL would be sleet with not much ZR and with some snow, too, when 850s go <0. I’ll try to post more details in the main thread. There might be an issue with the WxBell precipitation type algos. Having nearly 100% as ZR looks highly suspect with as cold are these 3 levels.

TWC app for my location in Chapin is saying 3-5 inches of snow and ice Saturday night. Seems not likely according to models we are seeing.
