Misc General Banter Thread

Well today was a dud! 1” and that’s with slant sticking!
Gonna hope nothing can shift too much in 24-30 hours, which is when the next clipper arrives! Hope the HRRR is accurate
I’m in the county with 6.0” need the moisture, cause the ratios will be about 15:1 atleast!

If you ever want to live in a town in the south that maximizes upslope snow, below 2500 ft. Mountain City TN is it. Located right on TN side of state line, about a 20-30 min drive west of Boone. Here's the web cam link. They are currently getting better rates.

RDU is still playing catchup trying to surpass the winter wonderland Florida panhandle for snowfall this decade. Maybe, just maybe we can surpass them by decade’s end, but it may be a tall order. We don’t just pump out 8-10” snowstorms around here like they get in Florida. We have to nickel and dime our way to snow…

I don't understand the hatred for a break from the cold? I don't want to live in Dubuque, I like when we get warm breaks, so i can send the kids outside for a break!!!!
I see what you're saying. But its the timing of the break. And the dog water pattern showing up is very hard to break it seems. How many times have we seen that ridiculous Aleutian ridge ruin our winters lately? I'm a fan of a break. Zonal for a week or so would suffice. But not that pattern. Thats going to be more than a break if I was a betting man. Highly likely to piss away half of peak climo or more now. January is all we have for climo now it seems down my way

December is hit or miss and snow in February or March is almost unheard of the last 10 years. January is by far the best winter month and if we lose January it’s over.

South Carolina snow shields are cranking this year. We are 100% going to get blanked this winter. You can just feel it
Yeah, pretty crappy to think about. I have really been enjoying the below average so I will take that over warm or average any time; but would have been nice to have gotten in on at least one of these. If we really are looking at a reset and punting to middle Jan I do not like our odds. Crazy how snow knows about the state line.

It really pisses me off that we can’t get our cold and snowy patterns over my winter break. The one time where I don’t have much else to worry about and have time to be distracted, it warms up and the weather gets depressing.

Why the heck did we get snow the day of a final exam, then once it ends, we get torch. So infuriating!!!!!

Just means you will get to enjoy some snow days in late January and February because that is my guess we have two more chances one in late January and one in February

If that warm pattern breaks down and the same one we have now returns we are 100% going to get blanked. That pattern modeled has about as good of a chance as this one now does. Both basically 0

It’s time to hang it up. If the models are still looking like this next Friday I’m logging out of here and just not paying attention anymore. I’ll check back in in Feb to see how tornado season looks.

It’s just a textbook blowtorch pattern unless the ensembles are totally missing something. I’d at least like to see some alternate scenarios modeled over the next week of what EOM “can” look like if things go our way. It’s been an east coast dominated winter so far so we’ve got that in our favor. Hard for things to flip and stay flipped very longIMG_7004.gif

Jimmy, the Euro Weeklies actually have the heart of the blowtorch (when averaged out) further west than the SE due I assume to occasional short periods of cold getting down into the SE.

I'll trade you your inconveniently timed snow for my no snow at all!
