Misc General Banter Thread

I feel like we are trying to make chicken salad out of chicken 💩. We just don’t have the right ingredients to cook up a winter storm. Hopefully that will change, but we are looking pretty far down the road already. Not much fun right now.
PNA is easily the single most important long range indicator you want in your favor. It appears we have that going for us in the long range. I wouldn’t call it chicken crap. Just have to keep being patient for now.

Epic winter? Not for most of us.

I really don't disagree with Drizzle tbh, as there is a small part of central Georgia that had essentially been shut out completely on winter for 9 years until 24/25 (and guess where I happen to live at).

Too far north in 2018 for that epic far southern snow event, too far east for snow to stick in 2018 in the other event and barely scraped out a sleet dusting in 2022.

1/10/2025 was the first time it snowed and stuck in the Augusta area since January 2016 and that was a luck event.

Looks chilly in Orlando and Jacksonville. Maybe some snow in the Sunshine State ?View attachment 181114

Epic winter in Georgia last winter. One for the record books. Pretty much all of Georgia got snow at some point last January.
It was only epic for those that don't normally see anything in any given winter. Having a light accumulation that doesn't last due to cold rain is all we saw here so below normal snow for another year. We are beyond overdue and so are the Carolinas.

Atlanta was definitely above normal last winter with over 3" of snow. I think some areas in the city had close to 5" last winter.

Maybe Atlanta was above and had a good winter. But I promise you not too far north and east from Gainesville to GSP up to AVL and over to CLT and maybe even GSO by their standards has taken suck to a whole different level. And unprecedented level of suck and last year was just another kick to the balls like the 2 before it. And mother nature is pulling that leg back getting ready to deliver another one this year.

I'm not referring to the city. Pick an area north and east and most haven't had anything substantial. I'm glad the city finally got something though and I still believe they can see more when we do as well.

Two miles south of the Mall of GA (that’s well NE for those who don’t know) they got a solid 3” on Jan 10th, which exceeded their longterm avg. I know because I was staying with friends there, measured it, and walked on it. It fell mainly in the morning. That was their biggest in 10 years! Little did I know, however, I’d be seeing another 3” (mainly sleet, which I loved) back home in SAV within 11-12 days. From that 2nd storm, ATL area got some more.

I got 2.5" from the 1/10 storm last year and then 1" from the next one, total of 3.5" which is way above average. Statistically, I'm not going to see accumulating snow for some time now, right, GaWx?

You did great! But what you got last year is independent of what you’ll get this year and beyond.
