If December rolls around and we're still dealing with record warmth, half of this board may have a conniption

October is usually my favorite month of the year in terms of weather. Highs in the 60s and 70s. Lows in the 40s and 50s. Sunny skies. Low dewpoints. I hope October doesnt disappoint this year.

I want a cool Thanksgiving, a cold Christmas- New Years and 2-4 snow storms and 2-3 ice storms from January- March. Damn not asking for much.

I received a jury summons today..I realize it is my civil duty but come on I have other actual responsibilities to tend to. @pcbjr how do I get out of it? I have a 2 year old whom I’m responsible for getting to and from the babysitter EVERY weekday morning. I am also an Insulin dependent juvenile diabetic. Help me out here..

Tell them you think everyone is guilty until proven innocent !

My experience says that its not hard to get out of it legally. You might be able to get a medical waiver (my mom has gotten medical waivers ever since she became disabled), but if not, just go for your one morning and either tell the judge something that isn't unreasonable that will get you out of it (I can't be fair and impartial will usually do the trick, and there's some other things that will do the trick without problem that I've seen when I've googled this), or simply telling the truth might also get you out of it (it's borderline-ish but it can).

I've had four jury summonses but I haven't actually ever been seated. I got it postponed twice, then told the judge something that would have me dismissed twice. I actually kinda wanted to be seated the last time I went, but then a major hospital organization in my area called me for a job interview on the Tuesday morning after, so I changed my mind and said something to get dismissed.

Speaking of which, interviews suck, but phone interviews suck worse. I've had well over 20 interviews (probably close to 30 now) with no luck and in my latest one, it was a phone interview and I feel like I botched it badly with my uhhhhs, repeating words, and having to repeat myself.

Tell them your allergic to heat and can’t leave the house if it’s above 85 degrees! That should cover you through February! ??

I good tip is to talk slow and be confident, phone interviews are hard for both sides. In person interviews are all about Confidence and Attire. Dress to impress is true. When I review a resume I’m just looking for skills, degrees, licenses etc. I don’t pay attention to job history. Another big thing for me is eye contact. If you do all these you will find a job sooner then later.

it amazes me how there can be 40 inches of rain in one spot and so many other areas getting nothing for weeks lol

Hurricanes man, gotta suck but be cool at the same time. Thankfully it could never flood around my house unless I received 200 inches in 24hrs.
