Pattern Failboat February

One of these days that Baja low will be a robust upper level low that just plows through the South and delivers the goods. I have no scientific backing on this whatsoever so my guess is as good as any of these forecast models! :D
 
Last year the call was FabFeb was coming. We got opposite.
This year the call all Dec,Hollidays was Torch Feb is coming. Winter ends around mlk day , shortly after.
Heres to hoping we get the exact opposite again. Need snow,so the ground will be moist for spring planting.
And Im always in the delay warm up wx as long as you possibly can. No nats,mosquitoes, humidity, lawn mowing,weed eating... list goes on an on. Enjoy this why we have it.

I haven’t seen a single bug since November. Not one
 
End of January and into early February looks like we could get into a classic “messy” winter storm setup as NW flow tries to keep cold air high pressure intruding into the area while areas of low pressure ride along them. Could see an icy wintry mix winter storm for CAD regions and Northern South regions.

Feels like with the MJO cooperation we’ve had this year and now the gulf coast getting snow, the tide may be starting to turn in the east to finish out the decade and maybe beyond #Hope

Weeds will be crazy when the warm up comes. Figure big warm up then cold mid or late Feb. spring will be full of pulling and spraying weeds

Can't have weeds with next to zero soil moisture.

Maybe it'll start raining. We picked up .8" overnight which finally pushed us over 3" cumulative since 10/1/24 which was helpful. Ponds are as low as I've ever seen them in winter all across NESC.

If it warms up first of February you will see. Already seeing chickweed and some henbit now. Chickweed and henbit are winter weeds.

The GEFS seems to be getting on board. 0 of 20 members had a CAD storm in the 240-300hr timeframe on the 00z run, but 6 of 20 have a CAD storm on the 06z run in that timeframe.

Pix or it didn't happen!

I saw them bouncing around outside my window 2 days ago, which is how I knew for sure this last storm would fail. Where are the blackbirds??!
 
If we want hope we need something like the start of Feb 2014….big poleward AK ridge where cold is dumped into the conus. We aren’t seeing that yet…looks very zonal.
