Misc Cold Season Complaining

yeah, unfortunately the yappers win sometimes
Well, I’m going to defend them here for a second. Our past few winters have been so anemic I can hardly blame people for getting overly excited. It’s the holidays, people want cold and snow. So, when it finally delivers folks are going to be ecstatic. If we wind up getting a big one. I think people will calm down after that.

Take a mountain trip with me and @LickWx. We planning it tag along with us
It's funny you mention that, I'm actually going to Boston 12/7 - 12/15. When I booked the flight about 5 days ago, I thought I was going to be golden. Now, it looks like even they won't snow. It's hard to make this up lol.

I just told someone 2 hours ago this hobby isn't for the faint of heart after we were talking about flipping to a stormy pattern and now it's going to warmup 🤣

I mean I'll probably see snow in Colorado soon but around here yikes
It's gotten less fun the last few years not sure if it's me or the weather. I do know that when the most exciting thing in a long time is a high in he 40s in early December can't help but think we've about bottomed out.

Moving up here raised my expectations so much and it kind of sucks. I mean there were years in Dallas I never cared this much if it snowed or not before 2021 but last winter between the Arctic air eating up 75 percent of the snow while people all around got buried and the donut hole nearly broke me tbh and I've not gotten over it. That's really the only reason I'm going to Colorado is to try and clear that up

Like I don't even like the person I've become this year full of anger about something no one can control. I don't even get what's happened to me tbh

The only thing we have going for us is the models are way more wrong than they are right out at day 15ish. They torch us as of right now, so the picture can only improve from here on in. It cant get much uglier
Actually, details are not known but there are some very good long range forecasters that can get rather accurate at that range.

Been the same pattern the last few years. We get a nice cold spell in the Nov-Dec timeframe. Once we break out of that the rest of the Winter will be above average with maybe 6-7 days of actual cold weather sprinkled in throughout. Followed by a cool Spring that doesn't really warm up until June. Rinse. Repeat.

i think it's the weather, when there's a credible storm within 5 days every good model suite is pure dopamine, we haven't really had that in 3 years

i will say this, my favorite winters ever were 13-14, 14-15 and 17-18 and those winters seemed dead in the water in raleigh through christmas (i know that early dec storm existed in 2017 but i remember that as doing food delivery in 33 and rain with occasional sleet haha)

Yeah I can still remember last year people talking about 10 inches possible 5 days out

We barely got an inch

It's just not what it used to be. Like I don't even think we have over performed on a snowstorm since I've been here and it'll be 4 years in March. Even the big storm in 22 was on the low end of predictions

Funny how all your favorite winters are in the last 10 years. You must have a short memory.

15-16 we had that horrible christmas day with dewpoints in the upper 60s and we all know how that ended.
