Chevy or Ford?

I have over 650k on my 1993 4runner and T100 combined. I still get 20mpg and can drive circles around the new 4x4s on the beach. I also have a 2001 F250 with the v10, it's got about 225k on it. It's rusting bad but the Toyota's aren't. My favorite was my 2001 tundra, it only had 200k when it was wrecked.

I always wanted a T100. Solid truck and I always wanted one.
I got a 1998 Ford Ranger back in 2000 with 34000 miles on it. I drove it to Atlanta everyday while at Georgia Tech and then work. 14 years and almost 350000 miles and it rarely let me down. The coolant system was always a problem but I could always fix it. New tranny at 300k was the only major thing. She was never the same after the snow in 2014 but we gave her to a cousin who took her to the west coast and is still driving it.

First car was an old '86 cougar. 5.0 in that bad boy and I can tell you I personally cracked the block and blew a water pump. Gotta ginger them, and can't stomp a hole in the floor with 'em.
 
Ford all day, my dad has had both a Chevy and Ford in the past 10 years. Ford is clearly better quality wise
 
Driving a Ram now, but my first truck was a 2006 Nissan Frontier. I had 186,000 miles and 2 fender benders in that thing and it still ran like a champ! The only, and I mean only issue it ever had, was the fuel sensor gauge in the tank went bad about a year into it. $100 dollars and an afternoons work, I had that replaced. That thing is probably still kicking it somewhere! I only sold it because it was 2016 and I wanted bluetooth to stream music from my phone, and 4 wheel drive.

I still miss it tho.
 
What do y'all think of the Ford F150s with the built in generator? I heard people who had those in Texas were able to use those quite a bit to power a few appliances during the recent winter storm they had. Sounds like a pretty good feature to have especially if you're rural or live in an area susceptible to winter/severe or hurricane conditions.

Sounds like an expensive excuse to just buy an generator. Little 2200 watt portable generators cost like $500 and most those small ones you can carry around with you.
 
Well between the two, it depends. For 4 cylinder cars, Ford tops the list for me. For muscle, Corvette tops Mustang. For pickup truck, neither. No way. But the Ford Escort was a quick reliable 4 cylinder. And the Corvette, oh boy, that was fun.

With Kia and other cars out there now using 4 & 6 cylinder motors with a turbo, they can get 400HP, and are fairly priced. No reason to stick to just Ford or Chevy.

Old classic cars, Plymouth Fury, Dodge Charger, Pontiac Lemans, Buick, GM/Ford/Mopar are great.

I mean if you’re in the market to get a new truck, why not get one with a built in generator? Whether you’re going to a jobsite, working on a large farm, power goes out, etc it could be a handy feature to have built in. The add on package for it is only about $900 and the hybrid models come with a 7200 watt one I believe.

Because you're over paying for a generator that, if it's built anything like the truck it's attached too, won't be worth the metal it's built out of. ?

I really like Ford trucks. But one day I want to own a GMC so I can announce to the world that I "Got More Class," or that I "Got More Cash." :)
 
Im going off course here Bham. Back in the late 80s and 90s Ford and GMC lost track with me. I loved the old Chevy-Ford muscle cars that you could build around. Those classics were great. Then the 80s and 90s roll around, and autos like Mitsu Eclipse, Dodge Daytona, Dodge Stealth, Chrysler, Nissan, Toyota Supra, Eagle Talon, all these outfits began turboing their cars and they were great and extremely fun to drive. Meanwhile Ford and Chevy were offering V6 cars which were much less inspiring. I had a real angst towards them in the 90s. Now, Ford is offering turbo again for the Mustang. Really wish they did that to another body, like keeping the Ford Focus line going. But my hats to them.
 
Can I please hijack again and shout out to my favorite last American big muscle???? Buick Grand National and Chevy Monte Carlo SS. Those, my friends, were great vehicles that defined American muscle. I would drive those any day or hour of the week. Id wake up at 3AM if you pulled in my driveway with either and just hit the gas and drive til the sun came up.
 
Have 8 fords now. 7 of them trucks and 6 of those 7.3 diesels. Fords have done better for me and I prefer them over all the others. In my industry Ford seems to be others choice as well but they all are now too expensive.
