I've got a heavy shower falling at my house near Lake Wheeler which is south of Raleigh. The showers and thunderstorms are moving and building slowly to the west on radar. If they move slowly enough, I might be one of the winners in the rainfall lottery today.
Holy **** less than 2 miles as the crow flies it's been POURING for over an hour and radar estimate getting near 3". Meanwhile not a drop here. Amazing/Unbelievable we can't get to 20" of year to date rainfall by 9/1 if this doesn't move overhead.
Even more annoying because that area to the west is downhill from here in topography.
Penultimate day of meteorological summer and we finally get a sea breeze/popup cell back building overhead. Sad irony but I'll take it. Already nearing an inch.
I somehow missed posting about Sunday’s rainfall rough estimate at my home. I was alerted to it by Cocorahs and local TV wx. I very roughly estimate my home got 1”. That gets my total MTD through yesterday of a solidly wetter than normal ~8.85” to help the drought.
Officially I am sick of of this heat. I’ve just gotten back from the ER after my son collapsed at football practice this evening because of heat exhaustion. Thankfully he’s ok and back at home.
