Lake Effect snow seems like a legit possibility over parts of NC with the strong winds and the cold temps aloft

You know things have taken a turn for the worse when the southeast starts talking about lake effect snow lol

Well I'm taking the family to a mtn cabin for a long weekend so I'll likely be without service till sometime on Tuesday. Very excited about the time together! Good luck on this one everybody, try to reel something in for me, even if it's just a cold Christmas!

Sunsets have been getting later for a while now, the pace is accelerating! 3 minutes later than the earliest sunset so far! Lets go boys! Summer is coming.

Lake Effect/Sound snow squalls..

Yes, It's happened before, barely noticeable on Radar..
Such as White Lake down here in SENC a few times..

There been a couple times, I "used" to go oystering out on Bald Head Island,, It would be snowing like a MoFo, while inland proper, Nadda..

Did you really post the 384hr panel of the operational GFS and ask about a pattern change?
Not sure. I recall reading sometime back in late summer this year's nina was predicting colder part of winter typically was Dec with Jan & Feb being more moderate. Not sure that's true but this may be the best we get? Hope not.

Got pixie dust flurries with that one, but the hrrr was way to juicy with it
The hrrr nailed down my way. Got a solid two hour snow shower on Christmas morning with temps in the mid 20s… just enough to coat the ground

A potent storm system is forecast to impact the area late this week. A
light accumulation of snow will be possible Wednesday night through
Friday morning, especially across the mountains. Snowfall amounts
could be significant across the highest ridge tops and mountain
peaks above 5000 feet. Dangerous wind chills will also be possible
Thursday night through Friday and temperatures will remain cold
through the weekend.

Note that the latest deterministic ECMWF and
its ensembles are drier than GFS/ensembles with a progressive
frontal passage and cold air lagging behind moisture. The ECMWF
ensemble has no snow in CAE or AGS for the last few runs. High
probability of temperatures below normal through the period.

Good night.

Freaking love Bald Head Island. Its like a tropical jungle, much more than just a place at the beach.

Always fun to find new ways to fail
