if only there was more cold air

The clown maps, yes. The surface maps, however, are plausibleWhy would anyone get excited off the FV3? I get technically, it hasn't been tested. But it looks like it's on crack.
Sure, but the extreme totals reminds me of what the Canadian use to show, which was a cold bias every run.The clown maps, yes. The surface maps, however, are plausible
Well hey the NAM wasn't far off for last Decembers snow and we all thought it was on crack but nope it was quite decent here at least. I can't believe the 3 feet it shows in NC but temps I can.The clown maps, yes. The surface maps, however, are plausible
ULL?There's just not enough cold air. How are you going to get a major winter storm without the cold ?
Very true, NAM did nail that storm. Maybe the NAM nails this one once in range.Well hey the NAM wasn't far off for last Decembers snow and we all thought it was on crack but nope it was quite decent here at least. I can't believe the 3 feet it shows in NC but temps I can.
That's usually what happens when we track winter storms. It's gonna snow
No it's no
It's gonna go North
Wow, it went South.
It's gonna snow/ice
No it's not
"pick a model name" sucks
"pick a model name" is the way to go

It trended colder at the last second. For example, Columbia was supposed to be an ice storm with ice rain mixed. 36 hours out, the CAD trended much colder and it turned into a sleet storm, areas to the West and South ended up with a devastating ice storm. What was so special about the feb 14th storm that caused a riff in the current storm thread? Ive seen posters reference storms going back to the 1930's with no issues, but the feb 14th storm appears to have more in common to reference than the 80 years ago storms? What am i missing?? Did that feb 14th storm cause a lot of issues?
Duh, it’ll make its own! The snowflakes act as parachutes and pull it downThere's just not enough cold air. How are you going to get a major winter storm without the cold ?
But why are other historic storms okay to discuss in the thread but not that particular one?It trended colder at the last second. All I remember about the February 2014 storm is that we were supposed to get a crippling ice storm and it ended up being not bad at all.
Because the CAD was stronger.. Colder temps just above. That's why Jim Cantore left Columbia and went to Augusta, because the catastrophic ice storm forecasted shifted to the South. All I remember about the February 2014 storm is that we were supposed to get a crippling ice storm and it ended up being not bad at all.
There are just some storms you don't talk about. The February 2014 storm is one and the March 1993 storm is another. But why are other historic storms okay to discuss in the thread but not that particular one?
They tend to get upset when you get away from the discussion. But why are other historic storms okay to discuss in the thread but not that particular one?
That day the love of snow dead in his heart.Glen Burns was hyping up 2014 as being BIBLICAL! Ended up just getting 2 inches snow, half inch of sleet and .1 ZR. Not too bad
Yeah it wasn't nearly as eventful for my area as the January 2014 storm was. Maybe due to the snow just a couple weeks earlier meteorologists felt it was necessary to hype the storm even more.Glen Burns was hyping up 2014 as being BIBLICAL!
