Unfortunately the March 11th surprise delivered only flurries for me. Do you ever travel up to the Portland / White House area during snow events out here? The highland rim really does much better with snow then Nashville and even places like Hendersonville that are only a 15-20 minute drive away but are at the bottom of the hills. When I lived in Hendersonville I can’t tell you how many times I’d leave work in Portland where it was snowing hard and had 1-2 inches of snow on the ground, only to get home to light flurries and no accumulation. I’m so glad I moved to White House in 2008 as elevation makes it more like living in central Kentucky.
 
Wow, Charlotte was forecast to be about 45 today and they are at 51 ! I'm guessing some serious melting going on in NC today.

Looks like the wrong state made the wrong calls then. It hit freezing right before sunrise so the roads were fine here. I saw Alabama was cold enough for such icing.

That winter would not have been nearly as bad had that early January winter storm not been such a bust. We picked up less than an inch when we were expected to get like 6-9 inches. I jokingly refer to that winter as the "three day winter" (January 7-9) since after that we saw mostly days in the 50s, 60s, 70s, and even a few days in the 80s! We hit 83 that February on the same date that saw snow in 2014.
 
Man my area did a good job with roads, they did a good enough job for my school to only operate on a 2 hour delay tommorow :(
 
It's quiet for now, but I have a feeling it won't be so quiet next month if we get another threat with a deeper cold air mass as we commonly see in January.
 
I have a feeling the next major threat is going to be larger (originating from the gulf/phase) for Texas all the way across to NC. Kind of the reason I wanted to go ahead with the upgrade so soon.

I don't really have a time-frame, but I have seen some of the Strat warming maps and am intrigued to see if that will get here in the Mid-Late Winter or screw our Spring up severe wise.
