If everyone can keep my dad in prayers, my dad was driving and hit one of those yellow cones, so he got out of his car to move the cone from the middle of the road and a car struck him. He's in the hospital. Thanks in advance.
Will be praying that he recovers quickly!

Oh no! Prayers are going up for his recovery

Wow! RDU has more snowfall than many "snowy" east coast cities so far! Amazing!

No surprise here. Brick always gets all of the snow :( Before I die, I hope to have a one winter where I get more snow than Raleigh. Just one. Has that ever happened? GSP with more seasonal snow than RDU?

It has happened many times. In 2016-17, RDU airport only recorded 0.8" of snow while Greenville reported 3.6". It also occurred in 2015-16 when RDU reported 1.4" and Greenville reported 2.6". GSP fared better in the January 2016 and January 2017 winter storms where RDU was near the rain/snow line.

Thanks everyone for your prayers and cocerns for my dad. He's doing ok, left legs is broken all up and his spine is cracked, plus he has no feelings in his leg which is not good. Continue to lift him up, thanks.
Bless him! Will continue the prayers!

Hmm, now that I look at that, I'm not sure that snow map that was drawn is correct, TBH. As I've said before I wasn't at home and was at university (and with that storm I thank God I wasn't), but my dad wrote a blog post about that crazy ice storm, I've looked at pictures plenty, and I really do not see much snow at all. They might have picked up a dusting but that was likely it. (Edit: hmm, maybe not now that I'm looking at one of the pictures now, although that could very well have also been sleet)

However with the other storm, yeah they did pick up what looked like 2-3 inches of snow to me on the picture my mom sent to me. The last time this house has seen more than a dusting (although I saw more than a dusting out on the road last year in early December).

There was a storm (sleet & snow) at the end of January, and then a similar storm two weeks later in February (a three-part storm, as we received wintry weather three consecutive days).

You are right ColaSnow, I forgot about the storm on January 28, I'm still sure I hardly saw any snow from the ice storm though.

Just asked my dad out of curiosity and he said "I don't think so" on the February storm. I'm not sure he's correct though based off pictures, but I think Richmond County was probably more of a dusting than what the map shows (which was 1-2").

Edit: And tbh I don't think the second map with January 28th is right either, although I'm guessing off of what I saw on that picture.

Well I got nearly blanked in 2016 5 miles south of 85. Would you say southern Greenville county’s climo is better than southeastern wake or about the same?

I'm in Northwestern Wake so I cannot really speak for Southeastern Wake other than from what I have heard from people that live there, but they tend to get a lot less snow than we do. I'd say GSP is probably fairly similar to Southeastern Wake, maybe they get a bit less snow than Southeastern Wake.

JBs daily summary is spot on for January I believe, a 15-20 day thaw and BAM- we are in dead of winter and the fun began, I would take this time to load up on firewood and ice crappers. Fun times ahead after/ around New Years.
