Misc 2018 Banter & Venting Thread

Is it me or does it seem the weather boards are less active now? I know not much happens in summer, but it still seems less active than usual here and at the other board even for summer.
 
So I've been an emotional wreck lately, I lost my best friend and the person I love over a misunderstanding a few weeks ago. I cried for over a week about it, and broke down to the point where I called a crisis number. Because of that and other reasons, I'm strongly considering just leaving NC to stay with relatives in Ohio for a while.

Props to you for reaching out for help. Takes serious grit to do that. Life will always have its battles. Getting over a painful experience is like crossing monkey bars, you have to let go at some point to keep moving forward. Good luck.

Sorry to hear this. Prayers to you also for comfort, peace, and perseverance over this difficult situation. I also pray God can intervene and clear up this misunderstanding so that you and your friend can reunite. Hope you stick around, have a feeling you'll get to see a few majestic winter scenes here in the Old North State if you do ;)

I had a dream last night that the wrestler Sting helped me to get a girl's basketball team to escape from Negan on the Walking Dead.
 
Don't check Banter that often, but sorry to hear that some of you have been going through some really difficult situations. My thoughts and prayers are certainly with you. I have a son who is 13 who has a rare genetic disorder that has resulted in battling physical, emotional, and psychological issues for the duration of his life. While most of his physical issues have been resolved through various procedures, we have had a continuous struggle with the other elements. It's essentially been a 13 year experiment with various interventions, therapies, and medicines, none of which have yielded very much help. It has been the most difficult period of our lives, and without God's grace and the strength He provides through a relationship with Christ, I don't know how we would be where we are today. I certainly would not have been able to make it on my own.

All that to say that there is the hope that tomorrow will be brighter than today. There is no way to understand why we face what we face. And I'm not sure that even matters. What matters is knowing what you have, being thankful for it, and using the struggle to be better and hopefully be a help to others who might face something similar down the line. I'm thankful that God has given us strength for the day, and I pray that He will do the same for all of you who are facing some of the most difficult situations of your lives.

Praying for you. Im sure anyone on here would be willing to talk to you if you need someone to talk to. Hang in there. Things will get better.
 
Im starting to think maybe we should start a prayer request thread. Ive also been going through the hardest time in my life. I dont talk much about my personal life to others because I tend to keep things to myself. Anyway, prayers to everyone and just stay strong and NEVER give up.
 
The power of prayer is real and I am living proof of that. When I was young I had major surgery that was a success and had family, friends and even strangers pray for me at that time. I have no doubt that praying for others works and hope everyone on this board can pray for those in need.

The past year or so has been quite tough for me as well. I also don't talk much about personal matters but sometimes it helps to do that.

Praying for you and everyone else. Even though I don't know anyone on here personally, I care about everyone's well-being and I truly believe that everyone will overcome whatever they are going through. We just have to stay positive and stay strong and be a fighter.

Thanks. I will pray for you and everyone here needing prayers as well. Staying positive in a bad situation is tough but with some good support it can get you through the day.
 
^ Unfortunately in recent years, a good number of folks who use/get addicted to heroin had previously never been a recreational drug user but rather were prescribed opioids for back, neck, and other chronic pain. Apparently, that's why there's an epidemic. So, folks prescribed pain pills for back and other pain need to be very wary and to try not to take them unless they can't stand the pain/only take them no more than occasionally/keep dosages low if at all possible. If there's anything else one can do to alleviate the pain, by all means go that route including surgery, epidural steroidal injections, hot/cold compresses, chiropractor, acupuncture, massages, TENS etc. Fortunately, many folks don't like how pain pills make them feel/side effects and have no problem avoiding taking many or even any of them. They aren't the problem. The ones who do like the feeling (in addition to the pain relief) too much are those who are most vulnerable to getting addicted and then later using heroin.

Yeah, it’s a sad world! Apparently, what I’ve heard is people get the pain pills and get addicted to them, then they are too expensive to get on the street 20-50$ a pill, just guessing and all their prescriptions are exhausted! You can get hits of heroine for 10$ or less, I think and it gives you the same effect!
 
Also, saw a great post the other day, to the tune of : why do they give all these meth heads 5+ shots of NARCON, to save them from overdosing, but drug companies charge 300$+ for epi-pens, so people won’t die from anaphylactic shock!
 
Going to the Angus Barn tonight for my brother's 50th birthday. I'd rather go to Texas Roadhouse.

The Angus Barn has a great atmosphere, a wine cellar in full vintage, wild turkey lounge (complete bar), some great crackers-cheeses-peppers among other things to snack on prior to meal. Also, prime rib that is as good as you will get anywhere. I do give you this, the Texas Roadhouse is the best chain steakhouse out there.
 
Soooo, has anyone had a week where they have jury duty but also has had someone call them and ask if you can do a job interview on that same week? As that happened to me just this morning.

I asked for Tuesday since I figured I'd be called in on Monday but shortly after my dad confronted me and said "You shouldn't have asked for a different day because you don't know when the court is going to want you in, you assumed, you should've just taken Monday and planned to call them back and ask for a different day if you go to jury duty on Monday."
 
I have not been on the board for awhile (Fishing Tournaments) so l have been reading some of this thread and my prayers go out to Webber SimeonNC and Rain Cold and all the others that l did not get to read :).
