Ok how about this. They get the White House back in 2028 and even bigger control of Congress. The 1st thing they do is get rid of the Senate Filibuster and then pack the Supreme Court. Once that is done there will be no way to get them out of power.
 
This is nuts i never would have considered thos to even be a close race...Murphy should pull it out but the fact its a few hundred votes in a strong red district is crazy.

Step away from watching the news. Stop letting fear guide you. This is just a repudiation of the corruption of trump, nothing else.
 
Because of funding cuts by the administration, especially in research, I lost forty valued coworkers to job reductions in our part of the university. I lost my first boss, my current boss and two other people in our department of 14 alone.

Tonight is for all of them.

I'm not so sure. In 2016 Trump won partly because Hillary was lazy and a bad candidate and partly because he brought in voters that never voted before and have since shown no interest in voting for Republicans when T isn't on the ballot. 2024 was similar with the added angst over inflation. Looking at the winning coalitions tonight it feels like we're back on a continuum of that 2006-2015 era.

Not much support for packing the court. Definitely support for ethics reform though.

Reminds me that for nearly all of 2025 and 2026 USDA staffing got so low there were many days no staff were onsite on at least one large pork processor in NC.

The stories about all the BBQ restaurants closing in Texas because they couldn't afford the meat!

I even heard about it from a place here a few weeks ago. He was like I've never heard anything like it. Not even in the previous years

Yeah this is why the Republicans got swept tonight

The Democrats are only losing by 6 here right now... They lost by 34 in 2024!

Sure, there are elements within the Democratic Party who would like that, just as there are elements of the Republican Party who would like to ban abortion in all cases nationwide or invade Iran, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen!

I didn't talk about it on here since this was not a political thread but I have to say I never agreed with Trump's endorsing of everybody. He does not know the states. And anybody that votes just based on what he says needs to figure things out. The repub for senate in North Carolina was horrible but just because he was in good with Trump he got the nod. We know what happened in South Carolina and the guy in Georgia that Trump wanted was horrible.
 
Talarico victory speech excellent! He’s talking about us unifying to replace the politics of division, loving thy neighbor as Jesus preached, etc. This is the opposite of MAGA typical message. He wasn’t just speaking to his supporters. He said he was also addressing those who didn’t vote for him and saying he will be there Senator, too. I wonder if he might become interested in running for Pres one day.

Its called cult of personality....Trump only qualification for endorsement is lip service to his "greatness"....Trump and Maga forced incumbents who might not be Trump rear kissers out replaced by sycophants...who were terrible candidates and only appealed to the far right maga types totally alienating the middle.
