Pattern Octorchber

What a start to October showing up. I will say though there is hints that the Pacific hurricanes actually get involved in the pattern. This happened during the last super El Nino out here too. That's the one thing I'm more curious about right now

I don't necessarily believe the Atlantic does much. Have we seen the Atlantic this year gfs_mslp_pcpn_frzn_scus_43.png

Looks like the possible fall front in October is going to have to battle the SE ridge at least going on the temp map hah. Hopefully it wins.

I know I saw someone in the other thread say that forecasting has been terrible lately, well, the Nor'easter pumping cooler air seems pretty decided this week. It's after next week that seems undecided.

Yep. It’s not a slam dunk at this point makes it

Interaction between the ull and pac cane probably helps enhance the SER, it would be there either way though. Good thing we don't have something in the Caribbean it would be a rocket to the gulf coast, the first trough probably hangs against the SER in the extended but we should see a deeper cool dump afterwards.

Folks like Brent, Mack, the guy in IL, the guy in Shreveport, the N MS/N AL crowd, and the TN folks are sitting pretty if you like cool the week of 10/5-11 when looking at this very non-bleak week! Is this beautiful or what?!

I'll take this, down here near NOLA!

Until a pattern change can arrive, we should enjoy the comfortable temperatures we will experience in North Carolina this weekend. We go back into the oven with highs around 90 degrees for the later part of next week. Ninety degree weather in October sucks, to put it bluntly.

The new Euro Weeklies map for Oct 5-11 actually has a slightly stronger chill signal than yesterday’s map showed (perhaps helped by Polo going up and out):

It’s still looking to avg a nice +PNA with cool/warm in the E 1/2/W of the U.S. Oct 5-11th with this largely due to 1-2 recurving typhoons apparently.

The super El Nino or pattern change whatever you want to call it is definitely starting to be felt here

Storms around for the 2nd morning in a row and this isn't even the big event yet. That's mostly Wednesday and Thursday Screenshot_20260927-070941.Chrome.png

80s in my forecast on NWS, starting next Saturday, finally. It's been perpetually 90-100 for the last 4-5 months, it seems like. Granted, this lower temp is from the rain from the moisture from Polo and the weak front edging slowly forward, but if the models are right, then this is the beginning of the pattern change and the switch to more authentic fall weather.
