We are back to getting crispy. Not as bad as a month ago but we are at a 30 inch 2 year deficit I was going back and looking at 2024 and really we spent the majority of the year then way behind as well. It was the 2 tropical systems that saved us from really being in a major drought that year. You can us below the normal line all year until the 2 storms then we went flat after.Screenshot_20260609_055922_Chrome.jpg

Our goose is pretty much cooked here now until we start getting downhill on the backside of summer late August into Sept. A lot of the western Piedmont missed out a couple weeks ago. Got friends at Badin Lake that cant get there boats from their docks out into the water. Sure its the same for High Rock lake. It will eventually flip. But with these long sun angle / dog days 90-95 getting ready to lock in, 30% afternoon isolated T storms want give any relief. Friday heat looks brutal, be surprised Goldsboro-Fay /RDU heat sensor don't hit 100+. We definitely should get the heat index over 100 for a lot of locations.

edit/ here are some pics of Badin lake

Its really impressive, it shouldn't be this hard to get rain here. Its going to get real ugly by the end of the month
Too much ridging, too much troughing, too much mixing, too much fronting. Maybe it will change in July.

It's dry enough down here we are starting to see some damage to the palm trees
Probably better chances late Wednesday-early Saturday of this week and next than we have seen over the past 3 weeks but thats not that hard.

Something really needs to happen for us soon though we are teetering on really bad

49 degrees up on MT Mitchell this a.m. Feels awesome outside here in the triad as well. Score it a 10 out of 10 this morning. Hard to beat for June 16th wx. Nice stiff breeze with low DP's . Feels like late September/ early October out
It's a double-edged sword, these low dews (which do feel great) are giving us a desert climate right now.

For us that work outside every day I am enjoying it for sure

I don’t follow these TC’s like some of ya’ll. It’s gonna come north right? Ample gulf moisture and all that. Lie to me I don’t care, just tell me what I want to hear. Brown grass is depressing.

It can totally be fumbled down to nothing for the entire state if the vorticity goes too far S and veers everyones flow to the N and NW.

That said, I thought the 12z Euro did a good job at highlighting the enhanced divergence over the region and the jet streak to the north expanding the rain shield as it moves east. It's not going to be a drought buster but it may buy some time until the next rain for some
