Misc This Means WAR

Iran is a larger, more populous nation with a well developed and hardened defense industrial base. That might not turn out how you think it would. Yes they've been damaged quite a bit but they're still very capable.

Maybe, but firing missiles and drones at US ships and not scoring a single hit doesn't speak well for them against SA's US supplied military.

The only way to get the enriched stuff is to put troops on the ground. They should have never been allowed enrich anything in years past. Blame is squarely on past Presidents.

Funny thing about international relations is we don't get to say which nations are "allowed" to do anything, especially when that nation is 1/3 the size of the USA and made up of nearly 100 million people. Pressure can be applied via sanctions, but in the end diplomacy is the only path to convince them they don't need to go further than a civilian only nuclear program.

In the aftermath of the Cold War a lot of our expectations for American power and influence were distorted. Knocking over weak regimes in Afghanistan and Iraq didn't help our hubris either. The ONLY way to ever get a reliable deal in place is to work with other nations and ensure that Iran got a piece of the pie. We sort of had that with the Obama JCPOA but the sunset provisions were problematic. Now they have no reason to ever trust us again because we can easily elect another Trump and be an unreliable partner. I'm by no means standing up for the Iranians. Their government is awful. But at the end of the day they're a big enough strategic player that we have to respect them and that means not getting everything we want.

The people are what makes the US Military so effective. No one has a military trained like we do. The sailors on those ships have nerves of steel.

From a strategic standpoint the Iranians shooting at the Arleigh Burkes is more harassment than any real attempt to sink them. They have the ability to do that should they choose to, but they know what would happen if they crossed that bridge. They have thousands of missiles produced on the designs of old French Exocets and Chinese Silkworms. They're accurate and deadly and absolutely can get through defenses in a massed attack. We used to joke the Exocets would give a dolphin a haircut if one happened to breach in the missile path. They're still detectable skimming over the sea surface but less detectable than something above the horizon.

I have a lot to say on this...opinion. But before I do, can you tell me if you believe the rationale behind this? And if you do, how strongly do you believe it?
There's really not much to say at all, tbh. Isreal is not going to drop nuclear bombs on anybody. Nobody with even a microbrain believes that.

In your opinion what should happen now then?
Trump should declare victory for the umpteenth time... bring our troops and military assets back home... throw himself a victory parade.. address the runaway inflation we have with energy and food costs... declare the tariffs were a victory and then remove them... enact policies that will help the American farmer (like getting rid of the tariffs)... play some more golf... throw some more parties... and get ready to explain why he's mentioned in the Epstein files over 40,000 times.

The focus on the Whitehouse lawn ufc event will be full throttle soon.

This war will not end until Trump's term is over. Even then, it's going to take a lot to remove us from it.

I went from initial trump supporter to now thinking he's the worst president we have ever seen.

Not really someone who I would put up as a political role model but this is the first I've heard of this take...

What a horrible human being this Holocaust denying Nazi is! Unlike Trump, he is a Nazi.

You could have posted about this without posting that Nazi’s tweet. The 30 congress people include some Jewish members:

Mostly it sounds like they used drones or fast gun boats, but some missiles were fired according to Iran. Most US warships carry several hundred anti missile missiles, so they can shoot down dozens of incoming threats per ship. However Iran has a lot of anti ship missiles, I doubt they fired a lot of those though since they probably would have scored a hit or two. Also I doubt the US has a way to easily resupply those missiles shot, so Iran can run the warships dry of defense missiles if they want to. Iran knows they have to be careful and that actually sinking a warship or tanker will escalate this with Europe and China etc. If Iran wants to sink dozens of tanker and cargo ships they can, there is no where in the Persian Gulf that Iran cant hit with a anti ship missile, they can also hit and possibly sink US warships but the ramifications of doing that would be high and they know it. It would take something like the US trying to put boots on Kharg or mainland Iran to make them pull the trigger on that kind of escalation.

Considering what I've been observing (leaving it vague as this isn't supposed to be a political thread), this has really looked more and more like an absolute own goal.

We're not going to know for sure really if whether it is going to truly bite down hard until Nov 2028 though.

What a whiner. It surely couldn't be that he has been biting Trump's finger(for right or wrong, making no judgments) for the past year or so.
Massie has been steadfast on the epstein stuff you'd think the republicans who 4 years ago had that as a major issue would support Massies effort for truth and transparency.

Considering the Wipeout the establishment GOP had this week in Indiana, massie should probably be concerned.

Point taken. Sometimes the best response is no response to stuff that's not grounded in reality, which is probably the route I should have taken. (but I slip up every now and again)

Why is Israel so invested in a little section of KY? Any why does Ed keep dodging the many chances he has had to debate Massie and show the KY constituents why his MAGA ways are so superior?

The maga version in England's Reform Party has won their elections. I don't think that party has ever been in control of anything

Worse than that. They're a largely Russian-backed analogue to the Hungarian right wing party that recently lost after so many years in power. Poland also had one in charge for a few years before voters wised up.

Listening to the BBC a bit today it's eye opening. Reform UK has an average voter age of 61. They're the group largely responsible for Brexit which has been a disaster for the UK. The have a general election on the horizon but the consensus is no party will be able to form a majority government. That will work to keep the worst of the worst away from power but the makeup of leadership will certainly change.

The Israeli government (note, not Jewish people) are one of the largest backers of evangelical Christian groups and in return, evangelicals are their strongest proponents domestically. Been that since the 1980s.

Appearing with Tucker Carlson is the same to me as appearing with Joesph Goebbels. He has become raging anti-semite.

He did win an award recently. What a great honor. Congrats?

The activist group StopAntisemitism has awarded the conservative personality Tucker Carlson its ignominious honor of “Antisemite of the Year,” citing his frequent invocation of classic antisemitic stereotypes.

They probably aren't, but anyone who supports or donates to their causes are "Israeli actors." Massie's real problem is probably just major Trump donors.

At the convention, the Jewish pundit Ben Shapiro continued his campaign against Carlson and Carlson declared himself free of the anti-Jewish animus that he has long been criticized as propagating.

“Let me just affirm one final time. Not only am I not an antisemite – and I would say so if I was – I’m not an antisemite for a very specific reason,” Carlson said in his speech. “Not because it’s unpopular or my donors don’t like it. I don’t have any donors. I’m not an antisemite because antisemitism is immoral in my religion. It is immoral to hate people for how they were born.”

But Tucker for 2 hours had Fuentes on his show on 10/27/25.

From StopAntisemitism:

”Carlson mainstreams antisemitism by platforming and praising Holocaust revisionists and Nazi apologists, while hiding behind irony and plausible deniability,” the group said in a statement. “By legitimising extremist voices and weaponising conspiratorial imagery at massive scale, he has helped drag antisemitic ideas back into the mainstream.”

Looks like he regretted it.

Looks like he regretted it.

1. He said he regretted it because he was then called a Nazi afterward. But he didn’t say he regretted it because of Fuentes being a Nazi/having horrible hate-fueled views.

2. He also said Cruz/Huckabee are “far worse”.

3. So, reading between the lines, Tucker’s saying Fuentes isn’t so bad. That’s the idea behind Tucker winning the award and makes him look really bad.

4. I’m in favor of giving someone including Tucker the chance of changing for the better and I’ll continue hoping he does. But I don’t feel that this regret of Tucker qualifies for the reason I stated.

It might not be Trump, but someone will have to go into all out war with Iran before this is all over. We are absolutely wasting any advantage we may have built up since late Feb. Iran is certainly rebuilding and getting help to speed things along.

That isn't the prevailing theory outside of some far right wing think tanks. I worked in politics during the Obama years and the sentiment on both sides was containment had a limit and eventually Iran would assume its place as the strategic anchor of the middle east. The goal with JCPOA was to hopefully bring them into the fold and allow the country and its leadership to modernize. To a limited degree that happened but it's my belief their proxies in Gaza bit off way more than the Iranians wanted them to and we know the rest is history.

Iran is simply too big, too populous, too mountainous, too everything to enter into an "all out war" with from the other side of the planet. That leaves us with diplomacy and hopefully once the current administration is gone, friends that can stand by our side and convince them nuclear breakout isn't the answer.

Trump made a blunder by starting a war then stopping the bombing before the job was done

BREAKING: We have obtained further information as Iran considers taking control of 7 undersea internet cables in the Strait of Hormuz.Details include:1. Under the new policy, “foreign operators” would be required to obtain permits to use these cables2. This would include paying fees and following Iranian law3. All management and maintenance would be handled by Iranian companies 4. The IRGC has previously warned it could target these same cablesThese cables are critical for data traffic between Europe, Asia, and the Gulf.

Trump keeps claiming we won but Iran sure isnt acting like defeated country.

Iran is definitely in the driver's seat. We have lost this unless Trump starts the war again.
