Misc General Banter Thread

This, and more, are why they are building data centers. Everything electronic is going to monitor your behavior and attempt to control you by rewards/restrictions.

I've said it before but people act surprised when I tell them your phone pretty much already does

Just like how I get an ad about something I searched for when I open Facebook the next time

And it knows where you are 24/7. Google maps tells me about what I did years ago on this day!

It's just gonna get worse

And yeah they're starting on the data centers here too. Suddenly in multiple states. I saw some suburb in St Louis got rid of everyone who voted for theirs

About a year ago I read an article from a tech guy who swore that your phones do not "listen" to you when you suddenly get those ads but just pull data from your saved cookies, etc. Didn't believe the article.

The other day in a class about cyber security given by a US special forces cyber guy, he pretty much laughed and said, "Yeah, they do."

He told us that when the guys go "on call" they are required by the military to leave all cell phones at home.

What I hate and you know it's coming is how everything will need a subscription service to use before long. You will literally own nothing.

I remember when people talked about how the next step was a chip installed on you physically to monitor everything, but that's not even needed considering mobile phone proliferation and dependence.

Meanwhile, Amazon is really good at knowing when I need to reorder disposable razor cartridges to pick one random example.

And don't get me started on out of the blue youtube suggestions within a day of me doing a random google search on a subject. Guess who owns youtube? lol

There really isn't any coordinated "they" here. Largely their construction is analogous to the thousands of miles of dark fiber built out during the late 90s before the dot com bust. It's wealthy people looking to do something with their money and this is the hot something. Many of these datacenters will cease operation when the AI bubble pops. They may eventually start back up in a modified fashion or be repurposed for small industrial use.

We've seen this pattern repeat time and again since the massive tax cuts for the wealthy in the early 80s, mid 90s, early 2000s and now in 2017 and 2025. These people suddenly have tens or hundreds of millions of dollars to be used as collateral for loans and that's what is building these datacenters.

Learned something today. Darth Maul supposedly survived being chopped in half and falling into a thousand foot abyss.

Like you had to take the brightest spot in a dim series and the epic duel of my childhood and crap all over it. Thanks Disney....
Well that Chinese guy from fast and furious series, dies in all 9 movies and makes it back! 😂🤔

So that ship with the new “plague” or virus , has apparently 12 Americans onboard and as the 12 are going to be removed and sent to some quarantine facility in Nebraska!! How lucky for me!

Going to open the official Cold Rain Weather store tomorrow over at the YouTube channel. I've got some pretty cool designs for the items being launched. And over the summer, I'll be dropping additional shirts, hoodies, and other items as well as the Chase Hard line, which will feature an action-oriented take on various weather and atmospheric phenomena, merged with a fun vintage retro vibe. I think this is going to be pretty cool.

Just wanted to let you know in case you were interested. I've attached a couple productHat.jpgMug.jpgRed CR Shirt.jpgTee.jpg samples.

if we remove snow from the equation, i'm learning that the nbm is actually the best weather forecast tool (at least for mby). i think the nws actually made something good with this thing and it sure saves a lot of time vs. outlier operational model runs

Always good to look at past data instead of anecdotes. Nuts that we don't have anything in the past 20+ years to reference this kind of dryness off of.

In that last blur short sleeve, to be specific

Can’t wait for winter 26-27, it’s gonna be lit

Can’t wait for winter 26-27, it’s gonna be lit

Can't possibly be any worse I suppose

People were talking about the summer preview this week I'm like guys it was 87 in December and 95 in March. Like we're still not forecast to beat March

The persistence of it this winter was the craziest part

This evening and the shirt we need for the Rain_Cold collection….🤘😉IMG_5490.jpegIMG_5487.png

Edging makes the yard look professionally done! Good job taking the time to do it! Totally worth the effort and a lot easier to maintain after the initial tons of work! 👏

If you had to pick one would you rather have super zoomed model runs on your local metro area, models zoomed to your state, models that show only the SE, the entire US, hemisphere/globe

We'll get Reffed instead!

Yeah, from what I've heard, that model has still been legitimately awful.

I know it handled 1/31/26 poorly and then I've heard it isn't handling severe weather well either.

Ah well, guess we're getting more and more back towards looking out the window for weather.

Finally edged after 6 years. Carried off 5, 5gallon buckets of mostly earth and some grass. Have a professional lined up to pressure wash for $200.
I’ll post after pics ..

dang $200 to pressure wash that? dude, you can pickup a pressure washer for that and never need to hire anyone again tbh

I've used my brothers gas ($350) pressure washer. He offered I use it. This driveway and sidewalk would take 10-12 hours. I measured and did the math. Guy I'm using uses a large orbital commercial washer ($2,000+) plus the cleaning supplies. Well worth $200 IMHO.
